Hi ......just wondering if you can still camp on Thevenard island.....I know it's been closed down to the public to cater for workers on the rigs but can you pull up and pitch a tent?
Ive just come back from a failed trip catchin only some nice blue line.....kids in the boat prevented going further out.....going back in a month and I'm pretty determined to get a few firsts species wise on the board!!

I am 99% sure the whole
I am 99% sure the whole island is a nature reserve so you would not be able to camp there. Be carefull camping on any of the islands in that area as calm and fisheries do joint patrols in the area comming from Exmouth in a big 7+m niad inflatable. Do some homework first as ignorance is not a excuse so don't quote me but from memory Ashburton Island was the only one I think you can camp on. People I know up that way never stayed there aparently its not a great place to camp on. Better off staying at the caravan park and fishing from Onslow its a lot further to travel I know but you won't be worried about getting fined and told to pack up your camp etc

Yup
like shortfuse. i'm pretty sure that Thevanard is a class A reserve, like barrow. That means no camping.

you probably can but can't
you probably can but can't say for sure been quite a long time since I was last there. We used to go there looking for muddies when the weather was ordinary, on those days it was always rough around the mouth and depending on tide it can be real dangerous. The ground can be really greasy and muddy so launching may be a issue, plenty of sand flies and a couple of resident salt water lizards too!
