mulies on gang hooks. lightish running sinker or no sinker at all, depending on how far out you need it. Even a paternoster rig with gang hooks. I dont do much tailor fishing but mulies on gangs are the go.

Buy yourself some mulies, a few sets of ganged hooks, some normal swivels, some 3 way swivels, some clip swivels and a few star sinkers.

There are two rigs that I could recommend.

The first is the standard beach paternoster rig. That entails tying a 3 way swivel to your main line. You then attach a length of mono leader of about half a metre to one of the remaining swivel loops. You tie your star sinker to the other end of the mono. You then tie another piece of mono, about half the length of the mono section with the sinker attached, to the remaining swivel loop. On the other end of that piece of mono you attach your ganged hooks.

The other rig is a sliding rig. You tie one of the loops of a normal swivel to your main line and tie one end of a piece of mono about half metre long to the other loop on the swivel. You then thread the mono line through the loop of the clip swivel and tie a set of gangs at the remaining end of the piece of mono. With this rig you place the sinker on the clip swivel so that it slides up and down the piece of mono.

To put your mulies on the trebles, line up the barb of the top hook with the eye of the mulie and mark where the barb of the bottom hook is on the fish. This will normally be near its tail. Then, starting with the bottom hook, thread each hook of the set of gangs through the side of the mulie.

Cast your line out near where there is green water near white water.

colin your second rig, say if the sinker is right up against the gang when sinking that wont affect tailor going for a bite will it?

sinker about six inches above the hooks to stop the clip swivel sliding right down. That is more to stop the swivel getting caught up on the eye of the top hook if I am using smaller gangs. But it is probably a worthwhile thing to do anyway. I have also used small red beads instead of a ball sinker.

If wind is behind you,

Try 300cm or more of line with a swivel at the top and a set of ganged hooks And a running bean sinker behind the gangs And cast out and slowly bring it back to you, Keeping it a foot or two under the water .

his bathtub, Lol. The running sinker rigs are good when there is not too much wind or swell. The Star Sinker rigs will also hold your bait in place if there is a strong cross current.
