Swan river crabing after the rain
Submitted by Yarzi on Thu, 2018-01-18 19:33
Has anybody tried chasing crabs in the swan after a big rain?
With all the fresh water around from Monday not really shore if it's worth a crack or maybe just head to Mandurah.
Any thoughts?

Head to Mandurah
even prior to the big rains at the start of the week, the numbers in the swan have been far lower than previous years. I think you would be wasting your time crabbing the swan for the rest of the summer to be honest.

Swan crabs
Went out on tuesday arvo in the swan. Had no trouble picking up our bag limit in a couple of hours.

If you are going to Mandurah
You had better make it ASAP when all that water starts to come into the estuary the crabs will bolt for the ocean.

Crabs
got 16 in about an hour and a half in Mandurah today- some good ones in there too!
Had two runs with 8 nets for 4 and about an hour scooping for 12. Ones scooping were right in the mud.
so there are a few around - just have to cover some ground!
