Surf rod recommendation.

Hey guys.
I'm in need of a new surf rod and was looking at the Shimano Aero Wave rods.
I have no clue which one I should get as they have 3 types of blanks- Glass,Graphite,Composite.
Am wondering if there is a big difference in the 13' and 12'2 models.
Rod is going to match up to a Penn 850ssm I have and to be used on Tailor/Salmon/Rays/Sharks.
Thanks! And Merry Christmas!

Big difference between your
Big difference between your tailor/salmon rod and your ray/shark rod. Either fishing for one or the other IMO!

Hahas. Thanks I only just
Hahas. Thanks I only just realised that.
Well its not going to be my main Tailor/Salmon rod. Need a rod that could cast 2-4oz plugs of the beach a mile for the salmon/tailor because my Shimano Shorespin will snap if I do that.
I've got some cheap Ugly Stick Balance which I think feels like a broomstick. So am looking for another Surf rod.
But the rod will be used for rays and sharks(nothing too gigantus) more than tailor/salmon.

I use a
Rovex Bario 12ft 8-12kg rod for Salmon and Tailor. I find it very good for long casts with lures up to 100grms. At $130 there hard to beat.

There are some very nice Xzoga rods at Oceanside. Very light, and super thin, and would haul in a few sharks I'd imagine

I have just recently brought
I have just recently brought the Daiwa Master Tournament Surf in a 14 foot and although had only a couple of cast as of yet i must say it casts a mile.
Def the longest caster i have owned so far.
The lemax 12 GTS is another good one and with a 300gm lure weight it is def good for heavy seas and big weights.
Very happy with both rods

Less than $200
Not much at all, you're better go look at one off the shelf. Plenty of quality rods off the shelf nowadays.
The new Rovex Aureus 12ft rod looks pretty good and well under $200. We're open on Boxing day and onwards.

I'm really interested in the Shimano Aerowave rods. But I'm lost between which blanks I should get. Graphite? Fibre glass? or Composite?

The american daiwa emblem
The american daiwa emblem would be suited for you, theres a guy selling it in perth for $139 11ft would suit you since your short im sure that series is comparable to the australian sensor series which sells for over $220+ check it out!

If your dead set at sticking to the aerowave have play with it in the shop and see if you can handle the weight etc as the fibreglass ones are considerably heavier the full graphite but can take more knocks where as full graphite cant.

I'm about 5'7 and I've pretty well built(do weights). <-feels like some sort of online dating application....
I have had have a felt with the Aerowave and like it.
But that Emblem Surf looks really tempting!
Anybody else got a similar model and what are you thoughts about it?
thanks!!

Lambshank, you may be better
Lambshank, you may be better starting a new thread as this one is 2 years old and not related to Rovex.
