sundays mixed bag
Headed out sunday early morning in hunt of some bream... Well to say the bream were slow was an understatment but on the up side the flattys were out in force. After around an hour of breaming the weather looked to nice to be stuck in the river and the missus suggested it was snapper time , so with no hesitation we cranked up the boat got it on the trailer and off we went to swap boats. We unhitched the bream boat and re hitched up to the new coraline centerconsole only to be stopped by police whitlst doing up the shackles... Wondering what the hell i had done wrong i said "hi". the officer proceeeded to ask me what time i left in the morning , this now had me thinking he was a keen fisherman so i proceeded to say 6 am we left pearsall. He then replied with you will need to come and give a statement , after a short conversation he had explained that it was a crime scene and that had practically parked and driven off in the middle of it , so after a long statement of i saw nothing we were left thinking WTF! we ended up launching the boat late afternoon and headed out first in search of a few squid wich we managed straight away so it was off to the snapper grounds . The skippy were on fire in the shallows as usual and were hitting the new berkley ripple shad soft plastics like they were going out of fashion . we started the burley and wham the first snapper was on , after a shor tussle tika had the first fish on board , at 53 cm he was a perfect keeper, within minutes the second was on and up came a 62cm fish. As it was just the 2 of us we didnt need anymore fish so it was home time..
the skippy were set aside for slide baits whilst the snapper and squid were set aside for a few nice meals...

Slide bait
Is used to catch bigger fish from the beach, like sharks or Mulla's. It involved a clip that only moves out, not in. All you do is bang a sinker alone out (which gives you tons more distance, clip on the slide rig and it works its way out deep with the one way system, ie washes out, but cant wash in.
Probably someone who can explain this better on here. I just know the clip as the "South African thing".

Thanks for the info mate.
Thanks for the info mate. Do the clips put any extra stress on the line if you catch a fish and it hasn't reached the sinker yet?

slides
If u get picked up before the slide reach's the stopper ring u will get "burnt" off , on a good cast it takes roughly 5 - 6 mins to get the bait down onto the stopper.

great mixed bag for sure,
great mixed bag for sure, gotta be happy with that
When asked by a non-fisherman 'how many fishing rods do you really need?' the correct answer is either:
n+1 (where n is the number of fishing rods you currently own); or
n-1 (where n is the number of fishing rods which would cause your significant other to dump you.

Good bag Mate
Sorry forgot to add the complement to the slide bait thing. My eyes are fading, but I had myself convinced there was 3 snapper, because of the optical illusion caused by the lateral line.
Good job for keen fishermen. Not many would go bashing for bream, then hop in another boat and go to sea.
