boat winch

Has anyone tried one of these winches, or have one of these types? Not too sure about not having no manual hand winch if the motor fails?

I don't know anything about it but it's a chinese winch , in the product description they don't tell you much and someone needs to proof read it because the translation is terrible.

I agree about the manual overide , you can pick up one like that from supercrap for $99 and if it craps itself you have somewhere close by to get a new one.

I bought a similar looking

I bought a similar looking one from another melbourne based ebay seller around 4 years ago. Bit smaller, 3500lbs, bit faster (3.45 m/min at 2000 lbs). Pulls my 5.8m plate ally onto the trailer at ramps, beach (eg Gnaraloo, etc).  Been brilliant, fast enough (faster than the ones sold in boat shops), wireless remote makes single handed loading pretty easy in windy, swelly conditions. Gets lots of envious glances. Need a good power supply from the vehicle, I run battery cable from my aux battery to an anderson plug at the towbar, and have the engine running when using.  I know another guy who runs one from a jump-start type batterey - seems to be OK.  Unit bolts onto same plate that the  manual winch was on, so I have the old manual winch stashed in the boat - but havent needed it yet. If price is right, give it a go! I ended up paying around $160 for mine, no regrets (and I'm a tight arse)!

Yeah i just ran 2b&s battery cable from my dual battery to a 200amp anderson plug so power wont be a problem. Also was thinking the same thing, if it faults il unbolt and hook up the manual winch. 12 month warranty doesnt look too bad. Thanks for the reply will give it a shot
