Potential record cobia

How was the size of that cobia caught yesterday! Massive fish but for it to be caught metro is even more amazing.

Makes you wonder about what is out there that we just haven't come across yet, I would have thought there must be even bigger up north somewhere.

the young angler got a good sense of humour standing there with that rod next to the fish, it looks like a rod you use for bait casting mulies ha ha

I'm not so sure ........ ???

The Oceans Legacy FB page says the fish was caught on an Oceans Legacy Inshore Element 7ft rod which they rate at PE3.  If it's on FB it must be correct.

Yeah I've caught a few up to maybe 18kg and they sure go hard! got one bottom fishing in about 12m at the Mackerel Islands one year and that went beserk! Had me wondering what the hell bottom species goes on a run like that! I like them to eat too but not sure an 80kg model would be too tasty.

I wonder

Hope they dispatched it before hitting the deck.

Those things can go berko, usually aiming for the most expensive item they can break.

Well done to the bloke for landing it.

Certainly is a monster. Wouldn't want to be on the receiving side of that fight. Would be like fighting a big shark

I have seen the photo, has anyone got a copy to post on here. And maybe not the one with the topless barmaids in the background.

Apparently the deckie kept saying it was a big stingray and to break it off. Bloody good thing he didn't listen!
