Lake richmond Rockingham
If my memory serves me correctly there was an attempt to stock lake Richmond (I think that's the name) in Rockingham with trout to see if they could survive and for the lake to become a local fishery.
Perhaps some one with a better memory than mine or who has lived in the Rockingham area for a long time might be able to help you. Or failing that ring the Rockingham city council offices and ask them for some info.
This attempt was made in the mid 60s I think. Sorry I can't be any more specific.

As far
As far as i know , you cant release anything into lakes , ponds, riverways any any other bodies of water in WA without the proper permits and licenses.
If you managed to get through all the red tape and stocked a pond in Perth, the local council would not allow fishing in it anyway.
Places like Golden ponds and other aquaculture farms are operating under strict conditions.
We have quite a few dams in WA that would hold fish, but the water corp have locked the public out for years, many people have tried to get access to these areas , but have all failed .
Most ponds and lakes around Perth are full off Carp and hybrids, there was a lot of intrest not long ago with some unusual captures shown on the media and social media. The result of that saw heaps of people fishing certain lakes, leaving rubbish and just generaly stuffing it up for every one.
Most coucils have security available to move you along if you try and fish these places.
The good news is some of our dams are being looked at for stocking more species than whats on offer at the moment. Also there are few more farms/properties that offer fishing if you search for them.
Good luck with the research mate , but i fear you will be banging your head on a brick wall in no time . Cheers Grant .

Fisheries and particuarly
Fisheries and particuarly Murdoch Uni are both against the stocking of any non native fish in WA waters. Over the last 10 or so years the numbers of waters stocked with Trout is pretty much half that of what it was and its pretty obvious to see that in the not to distant future there will be no stockinng at all if they stay on the current track. Despite the dwindling opportunities for freshwater fishing in southern WA the number of freshwater licences being issued continues to rise every year. Recfish West deserves a kick up the arse as they have sat back and watched our freshwater fishery dwindle and done nothing about it. Not one new fishery has been created yet in other states the exact opposite is occurring with many new freshwater fisheries being created by stocking new species and even opening up drinking water supply dams to fishing. What amazes me is that fisheries and Murdoch Uni cant figure out why Carp/Goldfish are turning up more reguarly in Perths Lakes than they used to. People are not going to give up freshwater fishing and if fisheries wont provide suitable waters with species suited to our climate then people will just create their own fisheries, unfortunately the two most easily accessed species are Carp/Goldfish and Redfin which are also the most destructive and hardest to eradicate. Its a no brainer to me, stock some of our irrigation dams with species suitable to our climate which would provide a decent fishery and then maybe people will stop moving the Goldfish about. Its a win win for both parties.
Go for it Dunc, raise the issue at the AGM. They had the opportunity to get something happening when the Liberal Govt promised to stock Wellington Dam with fish prior to the last state election, yet 3 yrs on not one fingerling has been stocked into that water. Piss poor effort IMO.

Not just carp and redfin
There are more than just carp and redfin in some of the local lakes around town. The people who know what is where are not saying a word and go fishing at night for some good fish, recently the word got out about some Murray Cod in local waters and the fisheries and Murdock mounted a big eradication programme, which did a lot of damage to the stocks of foreign fish in lakes and swamps.
From what I've heard on the grape vine all this activity by Fisheries and Murdock has done is to spur on those that want to see local fresh water fishing to sow more non- natives in more water ways.
The question to be asked is, is it better to have an oversight of what is where, and taking control of introducing species or, by playing catch up and not knowing just what is where.
Just my thoughts on the matter.

And then you get
And then you get guys like this from the UK who don't want to give up there coarse fishing ways. There are quite a few sites online that openly brag about locations in Perth, that they stock with these vermin.
PS: notice the catch card he places into view, some kind of tournament from an online club .

Minnawarra park armadale
About 15 years ago the dam (with the island) at Minnawarra park in Armadale was stocked with trout by the local council I believe. A fishing comp was held there to catch a tagged fish. Decent size fish about 1kg were in the lake. The lake possibly still gets fish that overflow from dams higher up the scarp on Nerigan brook.

armadale
I remember the Neerigin brook well I was a teenager living in Kelmscott and a young boy was given a fly rod for his birthday and practiced on that lake in town and landed a brook trout according to the local paper. In 1989 I placed 2 x 4 inch long rainbows in a lower part of the brook that was dammed at both ends.I sourced them from lesmurdie trout farm which is now not operating.when the property owner drained the dam 4 years later they had grown to enormous size.He showed me photos.I believe poltergiest that studies are still on going about the viability of stocking Wellington dam,Food source etc are an issue as well as salinity levels.90% of effort has gone into stocking suitable waterways closer to the majority of people.like logues brook dam that has no redfin.Drakesbrook and Waroona dams are full of stunted perch.I fished both with soft plastics and fly recently and landed a 6 inch perch every second cast.I have kept a small perch in an aquarium and they are a supreme predator on trout fry.no point releasing fry into dams that have perch.they will all be gone in 2 days.loved the you/tube.I thought only politicians used children in there campaigns. The war is over,If people are seeding foriegn fish into waterways for their own recreation there is no way to remove them,I have learned what I needed so everyone go enjoy your sport.Go recfishwest
just do it.
