Salmon fishing in Scotland
Submitted by ctan1968 on Sat, 2018-04-07 16:24
Hi all,
Going with the Mrs to Scotland in July and would love to try my hand at catching a salmon or two. Has anyone done this? It seems the best way is to enlist a guide to fish with you. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Scotland fly fishing
Hey mate,
I’ve been trout and salmon fly fishing with this Wes a few of times. Really nice bloke but worth mentioning that salmon fishing is very regulated and quiet expensive. Trout fishing is a lot cheaper. If you’ve got the budget (I didn’t) he also offers heli fishing.
Good luck, I’ve had a ball every time I’ve been there.

£310 per day per rod is a bit rich.

Fees
from memory £200 of that is fees to the government. 4 of us did it and caught donuts too! Amazing countryside though, still had a ball.

Want salmon then go to Alaska
Four different seasons from kings, doggies with silvers the last......they are literally everywhere even right in Anchorage ...Scotland is way way too expensive and no where near as scenic

Lived in the north west of Scotland for a while, didn’t really go for salmon but fished a lot for trout and there’s some awesome pike fishing up there. Where abouts are you going?
