when the old wooden jetty was located at the beginning of the north moll we caught several on whole prawns all over 4 kg and got broken up on the piles by several more......they clearly don't mind entering the river probably feeding on the prawn run

I had a great laugh reading the comments on the Facebook posts. Know it all doubting experts vs vegan hippies tree huggers.
Great catch for the guy, and good to see the West take advantage to give Barnet a plug about all the things he will do for fishing and the river. lol

I gave up caring about swan

Mon, 2017-02-27 12:59

I gave up caring about swan fish after that bloke claimed two prizes with the same mulloway. If its true good on the bloke, i mean i got doubts. But its not impossible with the amount of fish hanging around the heads. The bloke probs had no esky to put it in hence why it looked like shit. He was only fishin for bream.

tuna

Mon, 2017-02-27 13:11

Tuna have been seen schooling at the narrows so snapper can swim up river as well.Last Autumn an angler was catching pinks at the south mole while we were fishing for salmon

i recall a fair while ago (maybe 20 years or so- perhaps someone else remembers?)a good size yellow fin tuna was caught at the narrows... - that would have been a hoot!

Sorry fellas

Mon, 2017-02-27 14:47

I was down near pt Walter ski area yesterday, walking the dogs. The river at the moment is the same colour as Coca Cola, and almost completely fresh. Even the fish that can handle a bit of fresh are quiet, so I don't buy that this fish was caught anywhere east of the harbour, Especially one so pink

agree scotto

was in clartemont on the weekend walking the dogs and it was so murky even when i got in the water it tasted like mount franklin there was also two baby bream washed up ashore so i dont think a pinky of that size would of made it past eshed before turning back around
