night crabbing

what is the consensus on drop netting from the boat at night in the swan for crabs. Would it be worth it or do they bury at night and only feed/move at dawn and dusk. Seen plenty night diving years ago. Being a shift worker it would be easier to go overnight chasing them than early am with the 400 other boats already out there

I can't say I've dived for them in the river at night but we used to down at Rockingham Sailing Club and they were very active at night.

Not sure about the swan but
Not sure about the swan but in mandurah I prefer night scooping because they're not buried and they're out & moving
I find they don't bury in the sand until a few hours past dawn
Same should apply for the Swan you'd think

Night
I've dived at night in the swan and they are all moving about feeding, I reckon you would do well.

They are primarily nocturnal feeders
Crabs are primarily nocturnal feeders that's why I all ways say go crabbing at night or early morning.

Yes do it. I attach one of those glow sticks to the floats to make it easier to find. Works here in Mandurah for sure, but basically so knackered after work just cant be stuffed!!
