hi I'm looking at a new reel for boat fishing and will need a new rod I'm looking at something like the shimano stradic fj6000 or the penn conflict 6000 it's to use on a boat for bottom bouncing flicking lures trolling. I get out on a mates boat but not often what would be your recommendations thanks

I've got a stradic 4000fj paired with a gomoku kaiten that I use for plastics and jigging. Highly recommend the stradic reel tough light and smooth. Can't help much with a rod for what you want as my other rods for bottom bashing are cheapys

You won't go wrong with the Stradic- it's like a Toyota: Fairly priced, and with minimal care will keep going and going. Fairly smooth and free spinning, decent drag too. A really great all round boat rod is the 6ft. 4in. Daiwa Saltist Demon Blood 64CJ (Combi Jerk): It's thin, light and can perform (be abused?) well above the stated specs. The 5000/6000 Stradic pairs really well with the 64CJ.
