Trailcraft 540 freestyle 90hp

hey guys I was putting off upgrading my boat for a while but my neighbour has decided to sell his. It's a 2009 540 freestyle trailcraft with a 90hp 4stroke Honda 67 hours. He has had the boat from new and comes with ski gear all safety gear. Does come with a sounder but is average and will be replacing with mine if I decide to buy it, also comes with a full travel cover... He wants 30k and is in showroom condition. What's your thoughts?

Year?
Sounds like a good deal, I'm assuming it's late model? (67 hours makes me think a couple of years old max?)
Convince the missus & go for it!
Cheers,
BD

Looked on Boatsales and they dont show 540 Freestyle?? I think they are similar to the sportscab. Trailcrafts make good boats and the Honda is a good outboard.
Sounds like a bargain plus you sell your own boat and the ski gear and you are laughing. As long as it something you want and not just a bargain coz otherwise you will be like me, always looking at the boat you really wanted and didnt get.

Agree
you can get a lot of boat for 30k
25k is more realistic

Yeah been looking around, thought maybe 26k... Just was wondering what everyone else thought. Tried getting hold of trailcraft dealer today to see what a new replacement would be but no luck. I was thinking $26, 000 but u always end up paying A few more $$ than what u want haha

Just asking the question, is the 90hp enough for a 5.4m boat?

Seems to be a lot of trailcrafts with the 90s on them... the 90 is the recommended hp.... So the next size up would be better I'm guessing

I had a Trailcraft 540
I had a Trailcraft 540 Freestyler 2008 with 90 etec for 3 years, did 400 hrs and caught plenty of great fish on that tug.
Very capable little boat, took it out to the barges heaps of times, the furthest out was the Derwent in 200m, Rotto lots of times with my full family (5).
90 etec was good match, 27 knots flat knacker which was about all that hull is good for, 115 would be perfect as the bit of extra weight would settle it down, it tended to broach a bit due to the light motor. 90 Honda a better motor than the etec, but not as much grunt and heavier. Don't think you would ski behind a 90 Honda, you could just with the etec but again it has heaps more mid range than thr 4 stroke, similar top end.
I sold mine for $26k 1.5 yrs ago, so recon $25-$27k about right if in really good nick.
Boston Whaler 235 Conquest......getting the flogging it was built for.
