More good salmon news

I have been reading and hearing some good reports of large salmon schools haunting the beaches in the Busselton to Margarent River area. Sounds like those heading south for Easter might be in luck.

Water temps were 19 degrees

Mon, 2009-04-06 11:32

Water temps were 19 degrees around canal rocks over the weekend, so may be cooling a little (was 20-21 not too long ago i though), but depends how you measure it.

Apparently there were a few schools around the dunsborough area, but wouldnt really touch anything.

Saw some fish around the canal rocks area, but only 1 school and two pods, so they're there, but not in large numbers. Saw the pros get a school from smiths though.

Yeah back from Hamelin

Mon, 2009-04-06 11:34

Yeah back from Hamelin bay... got salmojn :) pictures to come.

saw a few schools, altho not real big ones (prob upto 5 tonne) the pros got a niec school on sunday, and there were a few people running around with Salmon.

Still makes me laugh the people down there looking for salmon, but cant see the schools right in front of them.

But they are not hungry, wouldnt touch a mulie, and i had to work the lures hard for hits, and others fishing right next to me got nothing, as they didnt work the lure enough i didnt think.

place is a mad house down south at the moment...so many people.

Sunday Salmon

Mon, 2009-04-06 18:37

Had my best salmon session ever on Sunday south of Margaret River. Small swell and light offshore breezes. Had a flick at 6 schools while walking the beach. Landed a dozen and lost about the same from spat hooks. Was using soft plastics and metals. Every time I went to leave another school would show up.and give me another workout.
