howling SSE today, with a morning lull just out the front. Haven't fished myself this time in, too busy and then the weather turned. But looking like it's turning good from Thursday on.
we were going to leave yesterday but the weather forcast was for strong wind and swell til thursday morning. but thursday to monday are perfect. look at sea breeze sitefor gero and bom forcasts for the next 7 days. see you there. drive safely.
I'll have a flag on my arial, (after I've caught something), staying a Reef n Sands old duplexes, last house on Grey St near the resort. we'll be sitting in the porch taking in the views when not fishing...lol
Chasing mainly Mackerel, Cobia, then some bottom dwellers
Hi mate we just came back from Kalbarri last week after 5 days of fishing. Very hard with both the pelagics and demersals not firing. Wind was up and dirty water caused lots of dramas. We worked very hard to find fish but had limited success.
Windy, swelly. And the swell is meant to come back up tonight. But the weather is coming good. You could see a blue line about a mile out today, which probably means theres a northerly tide pushing down, it'll get better.
Yep here now. No wind today and only meant to get better. River is like glass at the moment and could see the dark blue current linabout a mile out from the cliffs.
On another note if anyone needs a deckie send me a msg. All my own gear for everything.
Horrible time of year for fish on bottom. Out the 50 line fish have just shut down. North tide hasn't stopped. Sounder flares up but fish just don't want to play ball. Then you go in to shallower stuff and the fergles get your catch. Only spots firing are the super shallow for pinks but if you dont know the area not a good place for a boat! Tinny country in that 12ft depth.
Went out with Evolution Fishing Charters Kalbarri today, smashed the fish, Mack's, Mahi Mahi, Dhues, Pinks, Emp's , had a blast, seen only one small shark and added that to the box, Kalbarri is on fire
Heading up as well at Easter - towing the boat and yes last time I was there saw some rather large muddies caught from the rocks at the front of the anchorage caravan park. So will try this time myself.
fishing. hard work. like the above reports, the water was green as but cleaning up each day. on the last day, wed, the water was as clear as anything and i passed some bait schools on the surface, a bit north. I drifted a gar below a sounder reading that appeared to have larger fish around the bait. no strike but when I wound the lines in after a bit more trolling the gar was gone except for the head. I would have returned to that spot but was out of time.
Just got back from 10 days at port gregory and similar stuff to Kalbarri. Weather turned good for a few days but ocean was green and 22.7 .. Plenty of pinkies and trout in under 12 metres depths. No mackeral or birds working. Surprising catch was a nice 42cm Mangrove Jack taken about 2 mile offshore in 12 metres depth on a paternoster with half mulie. Beach had a few tailor up to 60cm and quite a few mulloway around 70cm.
