that depth I'd be looking at around 150-180gr jigs or more depending on what you are chasing.

I've never seen them work too well on reds, but definitely good for most other things you'd target up there.

When asked by a non-fisherman 'how many fishing rods do you really need?' the correct answer is either:

n+1 (where n is the number of fishing rods you currently own); or

n-1 (where n is the number of fishing rods which would cause your significant other to dump you.

There great for catching trevally up here! That's all I ever caught on them. The other day my mate was using jigs and plastics he got sick of catching little blue line emperor while I was catching reds so he put his jigs away. Maybe we just don't know how use them eitherway it's a expensive way to fish damper.

thanks for the tips, your right it will be expensive if the sharks are running hot (most of the time) but will give it a go on a few productive spots and see if its worth the while.

i have started using these a bit, can't tell you what they are but all weighted around the 90-110gm mark, i have some lighter and some heavier than that too. work well for the Rankins and Trout it seems, got a Saddletail and even hooked a baby balck marlin but i have heard the reds don't touch them, i'm also convinced they work heaps better with the small squid skirt on the assist hook too. Try some big SP's on 4oz Elevator Jig Heads for the reds. Sharks and teethy critters do like the jigs too.
