Whales
With the Mrs on long service leave every monday and the weather looking good yesterday we both done the school drop and then hitched the boat and enjoyed a day on the water. I decided to throw some pots in to remind me how crap I am at cray fishing then headed to my whiting spot. With a stiff easterly the going was slow but not too bad and a few vodka cruisers were had. Got to the spot and the whiting were on, bag in the esky pretty quick along with a few bait basket fillers for next pot pull. Thats when the weather turned it on, wind dropped and it was very nice out. The whales had been hanging around for a while but as the weather dropped I turned the 1kw sounder off (not sure if this was the difference) but the stereo was also playing music/bass, but the whales came right in on us. We had half an hour where they were coming up next to us going under the boat breaching 50m off the bow tail slapping breathing up. We were both amazed at the size and power of them. An absolutely epic experience right on perths doorstep. Cruised in slowly with a few more cruisers chased some stripeys around for no luck at south cardinal and back in for school pick up and crumbed whiting for dinner.
