Guilderton Moore River 3 mile Reef

Hey does anyone know whereabouts three mile reef in Guilderton is? Planning to go for an overnight fish one of the days.

Do you drive onto the beach at the groyne and head up the beach from there or do you need to access the beach from the tracks near the lighthouse?

How far up the coast is it?

straight onto the beach at the groyne, can get very soft and beach does get washed out so be aware.

3mile is just patches of reef and sand at this time year, during winter its all reef and basically starts at the groyne and goes from there

Pretty much what Gilly said. Not sure exactly how far it is but I'd say around 3 miles

I always new 3 mile reef as the small section of reef that you could wade out to approximately 3 mile along the beach from the groyne. There used to be, maybe still is, a small place to camp right at the reef and protected by dunes. I don't know if it is still there though.

Was a favourite spot for the old man and I... 25 years ago. Can drive on the beach but can get soft and keep an eye on the tides. There was a track that took you almost directly to the reef, not sure if it is still there but it avoided the part of the beach which was very dodgy at high tide.
