salmon schools!
That is good Bodie. My mate said two weeks ago (plus) he saw/caught a shit load of big salmon between Albany & Walpole so just perhaps these fish are part of the masses he got into!
Lets hope they dont hit the wall/go deep/slow up!
All the best for the weekend, let us know....sounds more promising!

They will come
My cousin runs daily fishing tours from Albany "Do-a-Tour" and targets mainly Salmon. He told me only a couple of days ago that the schools have been very thick and the fish are ranging from 5kg to 8kg. Last time he caught 8kg salmon in Albany, we had a bumper season up here.... Fingers crossed

Coming in big numbers now.
Coming in big numbers now.
Just got word from Hamelin bay, there is a 300 tonn school sitting in the bay which is hearded by a big pod of dolphins.
Ive never seen a 100 tonne school before let alone 300 tonne.
Spreads from the boat ramp all the way past the ebach access point, which would be 2-3kms long.

Hi Ya,
Sounds good. Got the week off after easter and am planning a raid on Hamelin. Probably two days one night. Will be interesting as I'm planning on sleeping in the back of my fishing car - a Diahatsu Charade hatch.

Cheers.

Hi Ya,
Hopefully they will be within casting distance where I will be.
Mako, hanging the feet out may be the solution unless it's raining. Will be an interesting experience for sure. Open windows may not be an option either if it is raining. Might just have to call the folks I know at Augusta and see if they will be home. they have a big van set up as an on-site type unit complete with side room and heater. Use of their freezer may come in handy as well.
Colin #2, getting stuck in the car - hmm, now there's a thought to the claustrophobia working over time.
Cheers.

Hi Ya,
manged to pick up a Strudwick 4 - 8 kg 7' rod this evening extremely cheap. Will take it to Hamelin with me this weekend. I've got a 4000 size shimano reel loaded with 4kg fireline so they should be a good match. Would be fun with a salmon on the end.
Lets hope.
Cheers.

Hi Ya, Well, plan to be
Hi Ya,
Well, plan to be oin the road tomorrow morning before 4:00am for the trip south.
To those concerned for my well being trying to sleep in the Charade, no more worries there. Called a retired mate in Augusta to get a fishing report and he and his wife insisted I stay with them so a good bed will be the order of the night. He also claimed he needed an excuse to stop whatever it is he has been busy doing and go fishing so we will be off together. He has an old landy so that will help a lot as well. His half dozen (literally) freezers may come in handy as well. Lets hope so.
Am really looking forward to the trip. Unfortunately will only be two days. Still, better than not at all.
Cheers.
