Got some water in my sounder the other day and it decided to shit it self so its off for repair but now we are getting some better weather i dont really wanna miss out i was thinking of just using the navionics app on my phone to get me out to a few spots around 3 mile anybody relied purely on this app before of so has it worked ??

It works really well as a plotter as long as you can keep it dry and charged. I don't find the contours particularly accurate other than the large bommies. If you know your spot coods then it will work really well because you can just anchor on your marks.
What type of sounder is it that got affected by water???

Yeah I had to use my phone once when my plotter's GPS shat itself. It's good enough to sound around and mark and refind a spot. Pretty shithouse for navigating with it if it's choppy though as it's hard to focus on the screen with your hand shaking. Good enough to avoid the areas like Wanneroo Reef etc still

Didnt ened up going thought the wund woulda dropped and it was a lowrance hs9 mate dont know how but must of got some water inside it screen just went funny and then it wouldnt turn on pre shit really
