Gerladton Fishing

G'day guys - one of my mates has gone to Geraldton for a couple of weeks for work and has taken his small flick rod with him. What can he chase that is close to town for something to do after work - would be catch and release as he's in a hotel. Is there a main jetty? Any help would be appricaited. Cheers

There is a main jetty and you can get some pretty decent fish there - but it gets pretty crowded.

The best bet is to try the many rock walls in the marina. Tell him to find out where the live lobster factory is in the harbour and fish the rock walls near there. You can catch big mulloway, tailor, bream, etc there.

If he wants a good feed of whiting he can try the point off Willcock Drive. The beaches there can get weeded up, but if the conditions are ok there are always a lot of whiting, and the occasional tailor there.

And he should bear in mind that is only an hour or so away from Kalbarri and Port Dennison, which are ideal for flick rod fishing.

Matt there is a quite a few whiting around at the moment and a few gars, squid, and skippy if he is staying in town tell him to try the beaches between the fishermans wharf and the light house should be holding some fish .We fished drummonds and southgates on weekend and both had good numbers of whiting.also is some big mulloway around if you put some time in.
