Fishing Steep, Snaggy Drop-offs For Big Flathead

I occasionally go for a snorkel along the cliffs of rocky bay to gidgee mullet for bait (and sometimes lunch). And I have been spotting some nice flathead amongst other things (check my fishing reports forum post). The problem is that Iam wondering how to target them... they sit on sandy patches on the steep dropoff you can see in the satellite photo. They are completely surrounded by ferocious blowies during the day and lots of weed and rock structure, along with rubbish such as shopping trollies and tires. The first thing that comes to my mind is of course SPs but i think i will have a problem with the blowies shredding them... and of course the endless snags. Any ideas?

I have fished there on sunset and it has plenty of 25cm bream and some herring. I am also thinking of trying for tailor...

Thanks and tight lines!

You could try bucktail or marabou jigs they seem to be blowie proof, you can tie your own or maybe try some of Big Johns Jigs in the smaller sizes. When it comes to the snags thats just fishing in my experience, good luck.

Blades and vibes work a treat down in the deeper water down there. As above bucktails work too.

I use weedless jigheads to prevent snags when trout fishing. Can't help with the blowies though.
