fisheries at gracetown ramp today
good to see the new mobile patrols out & about on the coast checking
had the guys stop & check us today at gracetown , seems it will be a bit of a more regular occurence
had one red hulled alli boat , come to within metres of the finger jetty , he spotted the guys doing there thing and promptly headed back out to sea around north point ........seems he needed to tidy up his boat ..........watched him from the top of north point car park , as he worked at something at the back of the boat .for five mins ...........then he tramped it back to the ramp
pity he saw the guys in uniform before he had tied up at the finger jetty ......his actions where incredibly suss
what he was doing who knows ?? but you just never know when you might get checked

Are you guys more interested in jumping to conclusions about what people might or might not be doing, or fishing. Perhaps more threads about fish and less about kissing fisheries arse might be more interesting. Do you cheer when you get pingged by a speed camera to? When youve seen some of the attitudes the officers have not all), lack of fish knowledge, damage to boats when boarding and mis interpretation of legislation ie non comercial vessel flare laws, I dont blame some people for giving them a wide birth.

I cheer when anyone gets pinged by fisheries because fisheries are there for a very good reason. I cheer when others get pinged by a speed camera because they are there for a reason. when i get pinged (rarely), i think i am a bloody idiot for speeding. I gather from your attitude that you would be one that fails the attitude test when you confront any type of authority. Authority is there for a reason, rules are there for a reason, because law abiding community members don't want anarchy. you would do well to realise that the majority of the fishing community expect fisheries to do exactly what we pay them to do, protect our fishing stocks from those that abuse them. and when people act suspiciously, we expect that their actions will draw the attention of the authorities and they will be targetted in the future.

Well theres enough data around about speed cameras that sugest the only reason they are there is to gather revenue, infact some states like NSW have removed some for that very reason. As for breaking fishing laws, you wouldnt have a clue, what the bloke in the boat was doing, so you were just gossiping like a bunch of old women. Theres one thing to follow laws and theres another thing being a sheep. I gather from your attitude that your a --- smoker as are your mates.

definately agree forum gossip isnt the nicest thing to shame someone when noone has any idea what he was doing anyway,it is bad gossip, however personal attacks at each other dont make it any better either,
this thread was never going anywhere positive lol, but get rid of the cameras FFS!, i heard in perth no more cameras as now they are in the traffic lights now ,they can also get you for no seat belt at the lights,
the country will still have the bush rangers though,

Randall ya spot on about seeing people get pinged either way... whether revenue rasing or not. Our fisheries are a resource that really are on the decline, even though some recent ventures from some bodies are helping to rejuvenate stocks etc.... I for one completely agree with fisheries being present at ramps etc, whether its just for surveys or for a thourough inspection.... The RBL was a top idea, not just for research funds so my children can still go fishing with thier kids when they get older but its also a great way to severely penalise the few that do the wrong thing, cause ignorance is no excuse, Ive only had mine for a few months but the recent brochure is downloaded to my iPhone and its not hard to go back through it and double check recent size/bag/boat limits....
Cutting it off halfway up my soapbox guys... not sure if that made any sense(ive got a 5yo b'day tomoz and hes really hounding me about the pirate decorations on the boat... that I thought he hadnt seen)

SPEED CAMERA SAVING LIVES??
Have a friend in the east who's 23yo son was killed last week in car crash. He was exceeding the speed limit by 6 klms/hr when he went past the camera....... 800 mtrs before the crash. His BAC was in excess of .05, we all wish the camera did what its "supposed" to do...... SAVE LIVES. What a load of rubbish, it is there for revenue ONLY !

never assume anthing...randall..what has speeding fines got to do with fisheries ...i personally have had 1 speeding fine in 27 years off driving...(waroona 50 zone doing 57)...due to banter and rumours i have had fisheries hassel me for lord knows long ...1 thing john williams said to me was i will get you before i quit work (x fisheries) guess what no go ,,,this was due to rumours,jealousy just general banter ... fisheries do a good job and if you do wrong and get caught sucked in ...dont hang someone if you dont know details ...lots off people look and read site .(be carefull) .for all we know bloke could have had good reason...who knows? ..if he done wrong so be it...does it affect me NO .who cares no one.

2) good investigations and prosecutions result from good intel. good intel is forming sound inferences from a variety of sources of information ranging from rumour and inuendo to evidence;
3) being oblivious to others suspicious behaviour will ultimately see the crooks win the war;
4) Does it affect you - if you want your kids to enjoy fishing for years to come and if this person was doing the wrong thing then YES it does affect you; and
5) people do care.
(and fisheries probably do read these forums)

kids .all enjoy fish ,dive ,but we never worry about anyones wrongs or rights,if the guy done wrong he will do again ...hopefully get caught .(sucked in) .. enjoy ocean, dont worry about other people ...what goes around comes around...not having dig at anyone ..but you cant hang someone without details its wrong...it happend last year on this site with pinks in cockburn...turned out guy did no wrong ..but guess what ...posts was locked ,,,

i have no faith in
fisheries at all .. i have had good feed back on pinks i have caught and dhues (tagged ones) but no feed back on male jumbo tags from diving...i seen an old pensioner get fined for 1 under sized sand whiting few months ago .. he didnt prob mean to ,but hey fine not a caution thats wrong in my books ..and yet when they boarded me last week coming up from dive they told me they have 2 to 4mm tolarance on fish size...(crap ).. to many young guns ..wanna be police officers ...picking on people who built our country not the way to go in my books..attack if you want ..but they evict the inocent (*sometimes)...this is only my opionion of something i seen at ramp..f--k em from now on ...
