Twice today while drifting for squid 2 different cockheads roared past us not even 10 metres away going flat chat! Love to be young and strong again.

Yeah those days are gone I think Uncle , the days of expecting all to do the right thing , to help someone out , to give each other room
on the water , on the surf beach or even on the road etc , its piss poor but the only way I can navigate thru this atm is too stand up and demand
people do the right thing . i think ive had more verbal oltacations ( spelling) in the last 5 years than the 15 previous.
Questioning why someone has stopped and starts unpacking 10 metres away from you on 20km deserted beach has become the norm.
Sometimes I just move myself , or even just tell them the fish are firing up the other end, whatever it takes , it doesnt have to be fistycuffs.
I just think in the end , we can only be responsible for our own actions and I sleep like a baby every night, knowing Im doing my best to co exsist with others.
Somethink tells me your the same.

i had alot of people doing that to me when the whites were running before xmas, my son is only 13 and isnt very confident standing at the side of the boat so he hates it. Alot of the guys doing it also had kids in the boat so i think that when they grow up they will do exactly the same. Was good one day though the boat that did it to us got back to the ramp same time as us and asked how we went we had got 20 from 2 pots so had to throw some back didn't even check other pots he had 1 from 4 pots he had no idea where we were fishing though didn't even recognise us or the boat.

there is no such thing as respect these days I'm afraid.
had some guys fishing so close to me at two rocks a few weeks ago, their transducer was interfering with my sounder!!! I asked them politely (which is unlike me) to fish elsewhere, and they had absolutely stunned looks on their faces..... they didn't even know they were being cunts!
same again when I was fishing a popular little reef near the sound. I was catching hezzas and whiting, when another boat pulls right up next to my anchor, and drop their anchor. not too bad I thought, plenty of fish to go around... until they don wetsuits and spearguns, and jump right into where I'm fishing! I had a go at them, but again, they didn't even realise that they were being cunts. I actually tried giving them a bit of advice, but again, completely stunned looks on their faces... they had no idea!
respect is something that needs to be taught at an early age, and unfortunately it isn't happening to the majority of kids being bought up these days.

Not just the water, everyone’s in a bloody hurry these days. I recently took my boys shopping to spend their pocket money and we were next in line at BigW where you stand in line well back from the tills and another till had opened up and just as I realised some old duck tried to shove past us until her hubby pulled her up and she rudely motions for me to go on.. it would have been open for a total of 5 seconds.

yep as mentioned , respect is gone on most parts.
being on the road all day driving trucks you see a lot if agro and impacience . luckily where we launch and retrieve the tub doesnt get busy or the grounds we fish.

An overloaded boat on the river is always a dead giveaway. Usually a 6.5m offshore boat with tanin stains from exclusive use in the river.

other end of the spectrum is the 16.5m boat steaming at ~15 knots in the 8 knot zone (or worse - past the pens in close proximity) on the wrong side of the channel with his white cotton shirt flowing in the breeze
these guys are brilliant at putting the boats in the pen in any conditions - that is until the joystick control plays up and they cant park for shtt and actually have to use gears to park - then end up taking out the boats in the pens on either side
They also think that fenders (you know the ones on the bow with their colour coded beige sunbrella fabric covers on) should not be used to "fend off" in the event that you get your black antifoul on the fender covers
These are also the guys who dont secure their shore power leads - which inevitably end up in the water discharging low level current which is just enough to chew out your anodes in no time....
I could go on but I have found venting actually only makes me worse!

I have access to a larger boat (which is a mixed blessing- and no it does not have joystick controls!) we went to Rotto 2 weekends ago, going down the river - past Freshwater bay yacht club is 8knots to the heads - I always sit on ~8-9knts (the speed will vary in different parts of the river as you pick up/run into current), I sit on 8-9knots for two reasons 1) its the speed limit - 2) from 10-14 I get an awful reverberation though the boat!
this guy in a 44 sea ray (specific I know but had 440 badge on the side) was coming up behind me as I neared the water police but as the official "channel" is quite narrow there and he wanted to get past me at ~12-15 knots he just flogged over to the port side of the channel forcing several smaller boats going up river to turn to port forcing me and the boat in front of me to stop
Water police were sitting just off the end of the Leeuwin boat ramp - great I thought - this guy is gone.... nup they just waved at each other and off he went to thunder through the traffic bridge
The wake from this boat went through the boat ramp jetty which apart from being completely inconsiderate is also quite dangerous...
I think its great that you need to get a skippers ticket, much like a vehicle licence though you are taught to pass a test not to drive a boat - more-so it is disappointing to see that the rules are not (always) enforced.
