Curious sharks

over the last few years we have been seeing more and more sharks when cray fishing out on the 3 mile from Hillarys.
we have been going out here for the last 15 years now and it's got to the point where we pull the pot then before throwing back in most days we get a visit.
They seem to be attached to the splash of the float when we do throw the pot back in a always check it out.
I like seeing them from the boat but never really saw so many when we where diving. It's about 12-15meters to 17-20m in this area.
We get the feeling they are attracted to our boat as its a single screw desiel and must sound like a cray boat.
Smart fish, or just lazy.

Cray boats
Do the cray boats throw old bait over the side when they rebait their pots?

Of course.
What else are they going to do with it? Or at least that was the accepted practice all the years I was doing it. Sound of a big boat , tipper clanging over, etc, is just a dinner bell. On heavily fished edges, they just wait there.

Same shit used to happen up
Same shit used to happen up along the cliffs at Kalbarri, the sharks were not after the bait....but the undersize discarded crays.

Never seen a shark eat a cray.
From my experience working the deck, the sharks couldn't care less about the crays. They are just after the bait.

had 3 follow us
around this morning, same area and are there most mornings now
they have learnt that pots being pulled, means easy feed when old bait gets despatched
