Crabbing in Perth Metro area
Submitted by RJV on Sat, 2018-02-24 13:57
Hi All,
Firstly thanks for the add..... tot he moderators...
And my question:
My to girls (4 and 2) are mad keen to catch some blue swimmer crabs, normally we buy them but keen to let them have some fun catching and cooking a few.
Hopefully it will start a love of fishing and crabbing for their future.
I rember I used to dive for them somewhere on the river around South Perth but that was many years ago.
Wondering if anyone could point me to a good spot that might give up a few crabs for them.... and the best time to try with some nets...... and the best bait to be used.
Thank you all heaps In Advance

crabs
Blowys will destroy a fish head and frame in minutes, but they dont eat chicken frames with last longer in net.

Ive started using a bait
Ive started using a bait basket packed full of leftover mulies and a couple of chicken necks on a wire pin. Works really well.
Tuna heads are excellent too and outlast the rays and blowies.
Officially off the Pies bandwagon

Crabbing info
Best bait is chicken wings because they last longer if blowies around. If you have a boat try around applecross. If jetty try brewery or Como or Claremont jetties
good luck
