Coral bay fishing charters

anyone know how bad the weather needs to be before fishing charters pull the pin on a day out? Heading up on the weekend for a week and weather looks average 
booked a fishing charter on the Tuesday. not sure if it’s worth towing my boat up either. I never have any luck up there with the weather...

Not sure about when they pull the pin, but if you do get out, take your own rod.
Last time I was there both Seaforce and Mahi Mahi were using deck winches.
Still great day fishing but much better using a rod.

We went out with Mahi Mahi on 13th April. Deckie said it was the hardest day he has had and the Skipper said if the conditions were any worse they would have pulled the pin.
Max gusts - SSW 41km/hr
9am - S 22km/hr
3pm - ESE 20km/hr
The historical wind speed data is from Learmonth and doesnt look windy but it was a tough day
The swell outside the reef was large (dunno the exact swell data). 5 out of the 8 people fishing were very unwell.
I took my own rod, loaded with 60lb braid. The deckie told me they generally only accept customer rods if they are loaded with 80lb plus

Well maybe there’s some hope then! I’ve booked to bring my own rod but only 65lb braid / 100lb leader. The lady who took the booking never mentioned what size rod/reel etc was required. Booked to go with Mahi Mahi aswel. May be driving 12 hours to drink at the pub all week haha

I was informed braid was required but not how heavy.
I used their lead and rig tied to my leader.
Considering the challenge they did a good job

We haven't gone out and they have plenty of times.
Both are big boats so not too bad unless really rough.
If your using own rigs and lead they're fine. hey just get shirty with people loosing thier gear.

I went out 2 weeks ago
With Mahi Mahi.
They were really positive and relaxed, just need to let them know you are using a rod, maximum of 2 per boat.
I got my 10 year old daughter to share a line with me on the deck winch and she pulled in 9 great top level fish and everyone had a great time and catch on a half day charter. Heaps of gold band, and many saddletails and red emperor as well as Spanglies etc.
I would leave boat at home with forecast , Tuesday looks like a non charter day... but after that should be doable.
Importantly, as with Seaforce, sharks are NOT really a factor. They claimed it was as they went a bit further perhaps.
It's a beautiful place.

We will Be rolling in
We will Be rolling in Saturday so if forecast stays positive for Sunday I think il still make the effort too tow it up. I hate to be sitting around if there’s any good days or the forecast improves. Wish I was up there this week instead

Don't mean to be a dick
But Seaforce has been a sponsor of this site for a while. Must admit I've been out in n Mahi Mahi a couple of times. But Seaforce help keep this site going. They catch a heap of fish too... Just something to think about.
