Hi Guys,
Heading up to Coral Bay soon. The missus has let me loose to get a new fishing outfit. I am interested in knowing what you think is the best rod and reel set up for some light bottom bashing for spangos etc inside / just outside the reef towards north passage. Spin or O/H.

Personally id go spin if you want to fish inside the reef because you will more than likely find yourself throwing lures and lightly weighted baits. I'd opt for a PE3 or PE4 outfit with a 6'6" or thereabouts rod.

Saltiga Blast 4500 $400
Certate HD3500 $450
Stradic CI4 4000 $200

Im very impressed with the current model Sustain 4000. Have caught a shitload of fish on it ranging from Sambos and Pinkies to Gummy Sharks and Stingrays (big bastards at that). Running 20lb Daiwa Accudepth braid on it and havent serviced it once in the 2 and a half years of owning it. Got it matched up to a T-curve Salwater Spin 5-10kg which is also a fairly versatile rod and has been a pleasure to use.
