beach anchoring at rottnest
Submitted by collie on Mon, 2008-12-22 08:44
Hey can anyoe tell me the correct way to becah anchor? Im going over to rottnest next week and havent anchored my boat off the beach before.
I have a normal sand anchor and 2 of those wombat beach anchors you can drive into the sand. I guess i would put a rope off each side of the stern to one of these and drive it into the ground. Do these need to be a certain length??also should the ropes including the anchor rope off the bow be a ceratin length?? and do they need to be tight/slack??
thanks for your help

If you reverse up to the
If you reverse up to the beach, drop an anchor ~15 meters out in front of your bow and then run one of your stern about 10-15meters up the beach what ever your happy with really. Depending on the wind conditions will depend which one has the slack but try keep the one of the stern a little slack if possible so people aren't tripping over it while walking the beach. If your heading over during this xmas break there will be plenty of boats there to see how its done. If you are a bit hesitant on doing it you can always hire some of those beach Pens on bathurst beach, their normally ~$25 a night or so.
