Anyone had any success at the Barges / Containers etc lately

 hey gang,

I'm going to take some American friends out on Wed / Thurs hopefully for a jig.  All they have done is a bit of freshwater fishing as they're from up the north around the great lakes.  Has anyone been out to the usual Sambo deepwater spots lately and how are they fishing?? We got smashed by sharks everytime we went there last year, and I said I wouldn't go back there just to loose jig after jig, but the thought of giving these guys a rampaging Sambo on the line is too much.     Also on another note, in general terms, anyone had any success with shallow water sambos around rotto?

The plan hopefully is to head out wide for a jig, then find spend some time in closer for some demersals etc, cause Thursday is looking sweet at this stage

Jared

All the sambo's moved off our shallow water spots a month ago, I have not been out to the north barge although ive heard the lesser fished smaller wrecks have a few fish. Good luck.

managed a small aj and 2 sambos to about 15kg at the barges tuesday, then the sharks moved in, tryed the smaller wrecks managed a small black ass and dropped another demersal then the sharks moved in again and lost a couple jigs before putting on a wire trace and assist, spent the next 20 mins getting towed backwards into a 15+knot breeze with an almost locked drag.... didnt even get one turn on the handle, must be some big ones down there ;)

North barge hardly had a fish

Sun, 2012-01-01 22:30

North barge hardly had a fish on the sounder on Thursday, and given the floating gin palace had two 12'inch raymarine's,'it was not from a
Lack of sounder capability.

Smaller less known wreck had a couple of moderate sambos, nOt worth the effort.

 gee doesn't sound too

gee doesn't sound too promising, I might just stay in the 30-50s and get a feed in stead of going the extra kms.

Thanks for the feedback

Mon, 2012-01-02 22:42

Hey junglejigger, what do you mean by "inner" if you don't mind me asking? I think there is no prob asking as they're all marked on the plotters map anyway.

Cheers
