This is a diesel outboard on the back of a barge on an island off northern fiji. Aparently it is chinese and they reckon it uses a teaspoon of diesel an hour.
The photo of the boys moving the barge is there just because it is a cool photo.

It looks like
Looks like the diesel has put in a few hours work and been sitting in the water for some time by the growth on the prop.

Doesn't it just
How does that old saying go, out of desperation comes ingenuity or something like that. The leg looks like a home grown variety as well

3rd world outboards
Have some of you guys seen the type of outboards used in some countries, especially in SE Asia? Looks like small motorcycle engines mounted to a long shaft with a prop.
