2 rocks report

My first trip out of 2 rocks didn't prove too successful on Friday. Started with losing sunnies over side in the marina. First drop on a lump with a good show on the sounder with new smith mejume jig resulted in a lost jig to a sambo. Had a bit of fun with the sambos for a while and then headed out deeper. 20nm offshore after a baldie came over the side by my deckie I decided to Ike jime him with the wrong tool. A filleting knife!! All I can say is OUCH! Sliced straight thru finger, cutting tendons, nerves and scraping the bone! Many a swear word and plenty of blood spilt on the deck was occurring. Luckily I had recently updated my medical kit so all wrapped up and panadol accompanied by beer and I carried on fishing. Not good idea. To cut a long story short I have just overnighted at the hospital with an operation by plastic surgeon to repair tendon and nerve damage!

Moral of this story. Don't Ike jime with a filleting knife to save time in looking for the right tool!

Sounds painful mate.

If there's one guarantee in fishing (and you're on board), it's that you will spike/cut/hurt yourself with something sharp, belonging to you, or the fish .  hehehe

least you had some fun on the sambo's

If I spent half as long fishing , as I do reading this bloody forum , I'd be twice the fisherman I am.

Unfortunately

Unfortunately you are probably right. Have been known to hook a finger instead of fish! Pain just starting to kick in bad! Bugger
