Haven’t found the motivation to get out lately? Well this week’s report has been red hot with a diverse range of species, showing us there is somewhere to go.
For the landbased anglers wanting to tick bucket list fish off their list, mulloway seem to be running better than ever before. We have had 6 weeks straight of non stop catches, with most fish packing a bit of weight to them! Many anglers have caught their first meter plus slab in the past month, and it might just be you next. The Masons fishing competition last weekend proved exactly this, with some seriously solid fish hitting the sand. A great example being local customer Alex with this ripper mulloway.




The bigger tailor are also starting to come in! Staff member Troy nailed some solid fish on the CID Shiversticks during the week, and it should only get better as we further into winter. With this weekends storm about to hit, a lot of the summer sand on the beaches should be pushed off, leaving some nice holes for the big greenbacks and salmon to cruise through. Now is the time to have your stickbaits and poppers on the ready!

Closer to the heart of the city, mulloway have also been caught in great numbers in the swan and canning, particuarly between the Narrows and Mosmans. Bream have reportedly been on fire lately too. We have heard from a few fish serious bream fishos that the river is thriving at the moment and you just can’t miss. With the rain we have had of late the fish will be pushing downstream and chasing the salt, so fish the lower reaches of the system to put yourself in a key position.

Out to sea, squid numbers have been increasing with some bigger sizes too. South mole has been producing great numbers, and with winter fast approaching we should see some great catches coming from both the boaties and landbased anglers.

In terms of demersals, snapper season is also on its way. Some good catches of snapper on the 5 fathom have been coming in. It will not be long until we see aanglers hitting them consistently in the sound on dusk and dawn. Get ready for the early wake ups and cold breeze, it should be a cracker season.
Fish are still holding tight onto the shelf, if you are after a great mixed bag try the 70’s, however if you are wanting to fish the shallower water and are looking for an alternative, some great numbers of king george whiting have been coming from as shallow as 8m. Regular customer Clayton filled his bag limit with ease just recently.

The salmon have been off to a somewhat slow start for the landbased anglers, however they are holding on the offshore reefs. Staff member Ando and Dan went out and just could not miss. Luke from the Myaree store was also out yesterday and had a blast getting stuck into some salmon on stickbaits with some great weather.

More noticably, there has been some hot pelagic action, particuarly yellowfin tuna. Yellowfin have been popping up here, there and everywhere lately, with some being caught on the back of the 5 fathom bank and on the south side of Rotto, as well as a few in Jurien. Dylan Picken played with some decent fish up to 23kg on 8kg line in triple hook ups last weekend in the Perth Game Fishing Club Shimano WA Open 2018.
