 After pulling on Friday

Sun, 2019-12-08 19:09

After pulling on Friday evening for nothing, got 15 today at the top of GI in 8m.

Went for a swim on the inside of the island in 2m and saw hundreds of crays. Never seen so many.

Pulled ours out today

Mon, 2019-12-09 11:19

Feels weird pulling pots out after pulling 25 (5 undersized) Most were Reds too, I think the main lot of Whites may of gone past us. Plenty for Christmas

 And we're done for another

Thu, 2019-12-12 13:51

And we're done for another year.

4 pots to go back in the shed until next year

did it hard this year compared to other years

for comparison sake

- last year 4 pots 111 crays from 11 pulls, all but a couple were whites and very few undersize.

- this year 4 pots 69 crays from 12 pulls (albeit 1 pot was stuck for a few days and didn't get pulled), almost a 50/50 mix of reds and whites, more umdersized than last year.

last year fished for 2-3 days before the December new moon and then the week after.

this year new moon in December is going to be very late (so we fished just after the new moon at end of Nov/early dec).

Everything else the same. Depth ground bait all the same.

no bag outs at all, funny funny season for mine.

plus deckhand not as strong and complained more than he did last year but not sure that impacted cray numbers

 Wow, Had complete opposite.

Been bagging out on the same spot (GI) for the last 2 weeks. Well over 100 crays.

4 pots 3 licenses. getting our 24 in 3 pots most of the time with occy's getting into 1 most trips.

But yes size is a bit smaller this year and getting mostly red now.

This year was about the same

Thu, 2019-12-12 16:14

This year was about the same number of crays but spread over 3 weeks going about 3 times a week but very small crays and about half reds. I did alot better at the start of October and the size was about double same spots though I started bringing my pots in last Friday just 1 at a time. I went Tuesday morning for 2 crays from 3 pots.

I’ve only had pots in a week and struggling to find them I’m in 25s back of the 5 behind stragglers now but wondering if Maybe i need to go much deeper. Any info much appreciated I’m hoping to put a few crays on the table Christmas Day but thinking I might of left it too late tia

Mon, 2019-12-16 10:20

Another bag on the weekend but occy's took toll on 2 pots.

Sizes are definately smaller now. Will do a couple of drops deeper to try for a jumbo or 2 but otherwise done for now.

Try again for the March run as a top up if required.

Mandurah

Sun, 2019-12-22 08:11

Pulled my pots out Wednesday morning. 6 reds and 1 white, plus another empty carapace of a white that an octopus had eaten. So nearly a bag limit. Checked by fisheries at the ramp which i was quite happy about. Officer said i had the most crays so far that day- it seems Mandurah isn't as good as other areas this season. Sea -Kem, i've never caught a jumbo so its interesting to hear of one so large.
