Rumour has it
As penance for his Exmouth trip this year, one FW member is engaged with a renno project of truly stygian proportions. Might even outdo the block as he is doing it solo ;)

you also have to take into
you also have to take into account that some real horse sh!t gets posted up around here sometimes, ive only been a member for over a year and there was a period a couple months ago where it was like logging into a 12 year olds facebook with all the stupid threads and even I stopped coming onto the site for a while.. I noticed it back then that most of the regulars went into hiding. Since then alot of the culprits have been erraticated
so I find its not as bad.

Also a lot of people don't
Also a lot of people don't know how to use the search function, always asking the same Q's.
People get tired of answering the same thing and keep quiet.
I think the number of lurkers also inhibits people from posting about spots and fish caught. Right now there is over 1400 and only about 80 members.
Gotta agree about the spam posts a few months back, Thank fark Tommy Queen fish has another group of fishos to bother, that's all i can say.

swings and roundabouts
Righteo, were not going down that track thanks fellas.
As for the facebook stuff, yep, couldn't agree more Beau and was a problem with having youngsters on the site. I have taken a much stricter line with what's acceptable in this regards, if they stuff about then they go. It may seem harsh, but I don't want my site being ruined by text talk etc etc.
As for the old members, swings and roundabouts. Everyone gets busy with life, work and other things - I know Tapout works away, Colin has a new job, the other Colin has a southern website, SamC's still about - still coming down off his trips around west oz for months on end (bastard), Tim's still here, Andy's busy with music and business, Dean is in Tassie most of the year, Russ and Sandy sold their boat (I just saw it coming back from up North when heading back on Sunday) and I'm sure the list could go on...
The site always gets new fresh faces and some of the older ones disappear, call it conflicting opinions, call it moving on, call it living life rather than sitting in front of a computer. It happens to all websites when they've been established for a decent period of time.

I miss reading
Russ Faulkner, I was only wondering the other day where they had gone, hope everything is ok. But its true people move on, we have seen that down the CPBA, members stick around for years, then slowly move on to bigger and better things, some become the grey power, sell the boat, buy a van off they go, might see them sometimes down the club or read that a older member has passed onto bigger fishing grounds in the sky. Even younger members move on, either due to finances sell the boat, kids come along, wife has to give up work for awhile or can;t afford to be members anymore.
We havent been fishing for nearly 18months due to an incurable eye disease that old fart has got, he keeps starting the motor and wishing things were different but hopefully after August this year we will be back into fishing. squiding etc.
Hahahahah not going to get rid of me, I stick like poo to a blanket hahahahah

Like previously stated people
Like previously stated people come people go . I like alot of the old guys who give there reports because they have an array of knowledge and advice to give and are great to learn from an there fishing reports are bloody awesome. However there are Many reasons why people may or may not post. The only thing that semi bothers me is the ammount of content available to people who are not members. Fishwrecked has been a awesome site to me in so many ways from tackle advice, rods , reels , knots , hooks , rig set ups and more. All advice which I couldnt have gotton any easier then coming online as a member and having people which are very experienced in the fishing department and industry give me top notch advice. I dont put up a huge ammount of reports or pictures because whilst fishing alot of photos dont get taken and not all the time a decent catch is warrented . Also compared to some of the tackle junkies and people with a bible full of fishing knowledge I am limited in knowledge and am still learning many things in fishing . I think maybe more content should be blocked to for members only that way it will encourage people to join and become more interactive within the website instead of just getting info and sitting on the fence. Just my opinion.

I have noticed the "old
I have noticed the "old regulars" have posted lots less so thanks for clearing this up ( how some have moved jobs ect )
There are a lot of newer people on here some post alot and others just post sometimes wich is great so kkep up the good work
Quite often when I read a post the answers i have are already up there so i dont post
Finially I agree there are too many fence sitters that don't join Hence they get all of our VALUABLE info and don't contribute
Any how I think the site is Great and has an amazing amount of knowledge and greatly appreciate all the imput people put in
Thankyou to all those who contribute

this is a public forum
and while we dont always post something ( 9 out of 10 times it turns into a slinging match cause 1person took offence to it ) there is always some interesting reading ( valuable or just jibber jabber) ...... just my 2 cents worth

I'm still alive Sherbs
As Adam and Jamie alluded to, I have been busy doing some rennovations to the house, which has limited my fishing time and on top of that I have rekindled my passion for guitar, having neglected it for over 20 years (hadn't played since my wedding reception). Both these things combined with weather and family / work commitments have meant I haven't been online or on the water much of late.
I echo most comments about the ebb and flow of members and their degree of contribution its a natural part of all online forums. Having been on the site since the early days my own contribution levels certainly have curtailed over the past year due to many factors. I will however jump on and comment when I have a trip report to add, but these have been few and far between of late.
One other thing that has changed is that I moved from IE to Google Chrome and FW is no longer my start up home page which means I am not online anywhere near as much as I was before the change of browser.
With regards to Reeltime, sadly I have placed this in moth balls due to the lack of funding. I tried a few times last year to get someone to help with advertising but it didn't work out, and since the mag costs me a lot of time and money to produce without the advertising to offset that cost it isnt viable. I simply don't have enough time to chase up sponsorship and produce the mag and do my day job. It might change if someone could gee up some sponsorship, but I won't hold my breath. Plus I vowed that the mag would remain free to the public, so I'm not about to charge a fee for it instead.
Anyway, the rumours going around the traps that I was pulled over the side by a giant 50kg dhufish and lost at sea are grossly exaggerated... it was 49.9kgs and tasted magnificent. (hehehe)
Cheers

It's a shame about the mag.

Thanks Fisherking for the kind words
Unfortunately the great reception the e-mag got didn't translate into dollars and cents sufficient enough to pay the contributors and or cover my time costs. If it wasn't for Andrew at Commodore Marine with his ongoing sponsorship it would never have got off the ground in the first place but sadly Commodore is in liquidation so the only real sponsor we had is no longer with us either.
With a readership in the thousands it had great potential, but its a shame that I wasn't able to make it work financially. As I said all along I did it for the love of the concept rather than the money (break even would have been great though) but its hard to justify forking out a heap of time and effort whilst taking a financial hit, its kind of a big demotivator. If I had managed to get someone doing the advertising it would still be going today. (I still have an awesome unpublished article from NT complete with video footage of a croc attacking a boat / nearly jumping into the boat)
Who knows maybe one morning I will wake up and get motivated again and finally make it work, or someone will call me and offer some help in getting advertising, but until then I'm afraid it will be a missed opportunity that I will simply put down to experience.
Cheers

Nice to see some of the "missing" post again
I am with Sherbert in that I do see the change and often worry about that. Good on you guys for responding. Great to see you are well Andy. I understand totally what you are saying and it's a shame but the obvious thing to do.
Vander72 hit a spot with his comments about people not respecting the opinions of others and I agree. Some of us don't always agree with some issues and that's a good thing so long as people keep the comments respectfull. Some threads are quite interesting and others just fall to pieces because of lack of thought and respect.
