Where to fish for bait
Hey all
Well to some it may seem like a daft question, but if its possible i would appreciate some info on your bait gathering spots.
I fish out of Woodies, in my 5.5m tournament so its boating info that I am after.
Its a fact that all the shop bait is shit and at this time of year no really reliable to purchase, so do any of you guys get onto small baitfish on your way to your spot if so would you be kind enough to help me with some suggestions as to where and the gear you use.
I reguarly catch squid so thats not a problem, more interested if there are any good bait groundsfor small fish in or around the sound. Also what baitfish do you prefer and for say just alround bottom bashing and unwieghted drifting.
thanks for you info, look forward to the replies

have you thought about
have you thought about getting yourself a cast net/throw net? once you know how to use one their a godsend for getting hold of fresh bait, just find a nice little school of baitfish and throw it on top of them and hey presto youve got some top quality fresh bait

Pretty sure, you need a netting license
and even then are fairly restricted as to where you can use it....

is a bait jig another name
is a bait jig another name for bait caster - one with about six tiny hooks with little white teasers and a red bead on each hook - used for gardies? and if so, how do you jig them? just a small sinker on the end, and use like a metal jig?
