The best baits hands down are live yabbies or live minnows like gudgeon. If you use minnows or yabbies though make sure they already live in the body of water you'll be fishing, you don't want to go introducing a new species to the environment by accident. If you prefer it good old scrub worms have accounted for thousands of reddies over my fishing career. The best technique though is casting lures around the edges of weedbeds where the reddies like to hide waiting for a meal to stray too close. Look for thick beds of ribbon weed, that's the reddies favourite hangout as they blend right in with thier stripe pattern. Minnows in the 5-8cm range like the manns strech 5+ & mcgrath minnow deep diver are excellent & if you can find them the old hogback spinners in chrome or brass are brilliant.
