What's the beach launching like at .......

Ningaloo Station near the Shearers quarters???????

I launch my 4.8m quintrex at warroora every year with out drama, but you have to have all the right gear.

So would it be safe to say that the beach launching at the shearers quarters would be alot easier due to the angle of the beach and no dumpers on the shore.

Will be there at the start of May, and at Warroora at the start of June.

Thanks for any info given

Cheers

Stoinka

Gday Mate

No mate, just taken the father inlaw to Ningaloo St as it is easy, compared to lugging everything to the lagoon at warroora for a 3 week stay.

No school holidays in june for our 3 weeks at Warroora, good fishin and surfin to be had once again.

Mate, I can't help in any way but, I notice you said beach launch at Warroora was easy if you have the right gear.

could you help me out, I've never been but am planning on going later in the year.

any help/advice would be great.

PS it's only a 4.2m tinny.

Thanks mate.

 4.2 tinny off the beach

Sat, 2013-03-23 20:16

4.2 tinny off the beach there is piss easy mate. Just roll the tinny off the trailer onto the beach, spin it around and face the water. Then just get a few of ya's an drag it down the beach into the water. Just time it write if the swells up and it's shore breaking. Plenty of other's up there doing it too so just watch them. You can also use a piece of pipe, like strong 100mm plastic about 1m long, and lay that in front of the tinny sideways, then lift the front of the tinny up onto it, then lift the back of the tinny and it will slide along as the pipe rolls across the sand. Hope that makes sense?!

Awsome place too warroora station!

Or instead of the Pipe, use an inflatable boat fender. Takes up less room, and is a bit more gentle.

Mooring set up

Sun, 2013-03-24 07:54

Fisherking, if you are at the lagoon i setup a mooring. Good anchor, 6m of chain, straight up to a float( I use a norwegian buoy). Have a pulley spliced to the buoy.

Then have endless rope running threw the pulley, which is used to pull your boat in and out from its moored position.

At the lagoon the bottom is mainly all sand, but alot of the area has limestone plates just under the sand so just be aware of that when setting your mooring anchor.

Becareful of the swell, i have seen a few boats come to grief. From memory i had 180m of endless 8mm rope which positioned the boat about 80m offshore.

Hope it all goes well for you.

Ningaloo

Are you talking lefroy Bay Area ... Easy as like any beach launch and retrieval right tyre pressures...don't sit in the breakers for too long....even use a snatch strap to pull the boat out of the water and dry load the trailer by backing under the boat while p2 winches

Tank, have the trailer all setup mate. 3rd wheel drop down, maxtracs, 50m of 12mm plasma connect to 2 snatch straps. This setup works well for Warroora.

Lefroy Bay seems like it will be a lot kinder, cheers.

Station

If you are launching from the shearing sheds you will find its pretty well sheltered from the southerlies and with the reef not far out there shouldn't be any swell to worry you.

Another spot if you are going to set up camp is Starfish bay which faces north and is completely sheltered, you head in to Jane Bay then north along the beach track, cutting across the point to the bay.

At low low tide its safe to drive well down on the beach to the north but don't do it south of Jane Bay as there are a couple of soaks that have caught others before.

There are sanctuary zones in force there now and I think they cover Black Rock [bugger, as its a top spot] so you will need to check where you can fish.

Carnarvonite for your advice mate. Used to be a engineer on the tugs in carnarvon, great place and people. Good memories

of Cape Cuvier, caught some great fish up there especially  were the old loading jetty is laying on the bottom, wink wink.

Weather

Sun, 2013-03-24 15:30

Weather permitting , I may have to take a boat ride up there late next week with a tonne of stuff to drop off on a ship, if time allows may take a look at it.

Though, not starved for fish atm, got pearlies, radiant cod, 8 bar, red emp and some gold band in the freezer , bit hard to go back to eating normal fish.

G'day matei have stayed there

Sun, 2013-03-24 18:03

G'day mate

i have stayed there every couple of years over the past 25 or so years...  Each time has been with my faithful 5m Quintrex Centre Console, and i launch it across the beach there  with no dramas - using the same drop down wheel, and snatch strap.  There is a roll of rubber there, but it is hard work compared to the snatch strap.   Last year the wind was blowing so we trailered the boat to South Lefroy Bay and launched from there instead of bashing all the way home...  Have a great trip!!
