What four wheel drive
Submitted by baron 88 on Thu, 2014-02-13 21:11
Hi everyone. The time has come to upgrade from the old hilux to something a bit more reliable and a bit more power for towing the boat. The boats an 18ft baron and weight about 1000kgs. I would like to stay with a ute and don't mind to much on the make. 4wd of course. I've been reading a fair few reviews but just wondering what people's personal opinions and experiences are. Any help, reviews or opinions would be appreciated.
thanks, Reece

I've got a 2009 ranger xlt, very happy with it, reasonably comfortable in the front, backs a little un comfortable though, goes well off-road, good fuel economy. I tow an 18 ft pacemaker, cannot even tell its on the back. Pretty well priced when compared to hilux, landcruisers etc. I believe that the autos can have some issues though.

Thanks for the posts guys
Yea I would love a GXL 79 series, we run cruisers on the farm and there pretty much unbreakable and go well off road just not sure about the value for money or if your paying more for the Toyota name. I've been thinking about a Colorado but haven driven one yet or been in one off road.

had an 09
turbo diesel Colorado, bloody awesome. Replaced it with a v6 triton pretty impressive but not a Colorado. Just couldn't justify the extra cost to get new Colorado,.

Not paying for a name, bloody
Not paying for a name, bloody good rigs tojos, relative on resale too. Recommend getting a vehicle series well into a model, ie, a 2010 Hilux for instance, had probs with injectors and few other things when first released (diesel) but Toyota are good for sortin that shit out and ironing out the bugs throughout the vehicle. A model that has a motor thats been used for a while by the manufacturer is a plus, gota be weiry of the first models with a new donk
I am, as I've said, merely competent. But in an age of incompetence, that makes me extraordinary.
