hey all,
looking at heading to wedge this weekend to do a spot of land based fishing, only down side is im a boat fisherman so quite the hopeless character when it is coming to landbased. ive got all the right tools and equipment for it. just not the right set of knowledge to help me succeed up here.
where would be good to catch something big there? what would i use to do so? is it any good for a spear fish?
cheers

Love Wedge, always go
Love Wedge, always go straight to my spot & set up a burley trail with a hessian bag filled with pellets, tuna oil, mulies & some cat food letting that roll around just in the wash & tied off to the rod holder. Haven't been up in a while unfortunately but chances of something big? yep, what would you use? what ya got? & good for a spear fish? absolutely

exactly what we do Lamby.
exactly what we do Lamby. got to have your burley in early.
herring and dart in the day, tailor at dusk and mulloway later.
If I spent half as long fishing , as I do reading this bloody forum , I'd be twice the fisherman I am.

we have had a shack at wedge
we have had a shack at wedge now for 25+ years so it is like a second home to me, i think you will find it difficult to get a good spot from someone as wedge is the type of place that if you dont know were or how to fish it you will find it hard to find fish and most of all find wedge overly frustrating , so when someone does crack a good spot it is held very close to there chest. Any ways there is a few little tips i can give for wedge that may help you. Wedge is a very shallow place from the point and northwards to cervantees and is deeper heading back towards lanclin. All the reefs there get completely hammered at all times so find yourself a nice gutter sout from south rocks, the gutters at wedge alot of the time are not overly deep but dont let that disshearten you as they all hold great fish. we usually find the best gutters in the bomming range and they are usually completely covered in foam and hold biiiiig mulloway and huge tailor. As wedge is loaded with rays i dont tend to burley at all up there and in saying this if you find the right gutter the fis will be in it, also fish all day there as some of the biggest mullys ive seen there have been in the middle of the day and not even caught near a tide change. bait up there is best fresh so whole whiting (which are everywhere) herring fillets or tailor fillets are best but always take scalies and mullies just incase.
If there is anything else you need to know please dont hessitate to pm me
Hope this helps
