Sharks but no tailor!

Went fishing last night (11/3) and was hoping to hook up some nice size Tailor, instead i just kept hauling in Sharks and Ray! Not complaining because all in all it was a real great active night of fishing, but wheres all the Tailor atm? I was fishing off the end of the rocks Ocean reef boat ramp.  For the main part i was just baitcasting with mullies, then changed tact and went off the bottom.

Has everyone else noticed the amount of sharks been pulled in? And wheres all the Tailor? :)

Mon, 2012-03-12 17:21

Metro LB fisher your not the only one.. Ive been beach fishing metro since i can remember and i catch very few sharks..  No idea why, i can catch everything else and people next to me can pull them in left right and center..  I catch way more mullaway then sharks even.. Ive also tryed pretty much everything with minimal luck.

One day ill sort it out and get a few..

Fillet baits

Mon, 2012-03-12 19:06

Guys use your tailor as fillet baits or in favourable winds balloon a whole tailor/mullet/gardie out. The bad news is if you can't catch one now you never will.
Anywhere from freo north they are thick at the moment

Sorry for the late reply! As

Sorry for the late reply! As I said we were at ocean reef off the rocks. To start we caught 1 tailor and ended up using it as bait because we ran out of mullies. First cast in with a single suicide hook and a strip of tailor brought in the first of 9 port Jackson's. After that we also caught 1 black tip (4/5ft) using freshly caught snook on a three gang, a small bronzie and a huge eagle ray. Was great fun. As Rig said if you want shark I'd recommend using tailor for bait, they absolutely smashed it! Also seem to be much more active at night.

Good luck! :)
