What Boat?
All depence on the size of your boat. 3.5meter tinny I would say tomorrow midday would be your best chance. If its 6meter glass boat you can go now.
edit: If you wane go lb then tonight

Tomorrow
Tomorrow should be fine. But I would stay in the sound with this swell. And look out inbetween the islands. With large swells thatg can be tricky area. But if you dont feel safe in the conditions you better turn around.
Good Luck

Agree with Aalfred
The swell picks up in that shallower water. Was going to have a crack in the avo if the forecast stays the same or drops. Not sure of the levels of swell in Cockburn Sound but I'd imagine it'd be fairly protected with the S'Westerly.

I'm heading out on the Ski
I'm heading out on the Ski tomorrow morning-but staying inside.
I'll give you a wave as I "cruise" past the gravel patch, and if you want me to come alongside to help assist with your Snapper, then give me a frantic wave back!
As I don't want any sinkers lobbed on me.

Well I can tell you right
Well I can tell you right now that Cockburn Sound is flat as-with a light South-East breeze.
I need to get some lights on the Ski-it would be ideal tonight.

The only time Cockburn sound
The only time Cockburn sound will be an issue with swell is if it is a northerly, perhaps severe winter storms or cyclones. Even outside, swell is only an issue in the shallower water. Proceed with caution and watch. I actually think swell is a good thing because the larger it is the sooner it breaks over reef that on the average day you may risk going over. Out deep, a 3-4 m swell will not be dangerous. But in close a 3-4 metre swell needs to be watched closely. If you check your chart and your course is over shallow ground, think again. If it is through a safe passage, just hang back and watch to make sure the swell isn't going to break anywhere and cause problems. There are safe passages out either side of Carnac Is.

I see a boat has gone over
I see a boat has gone over near the sound. Luckily all on board picked up. No need to take any risks with the swell.
