Water in Fuel
Submitted by ledge64 on Sat, 2022-12-24 14:15
Engine cutting out and found water in the separator swapped the fuel over to the second tank, a bit of cleaning the filter and priming and the 140 HP Johnson etec motor runs OK on the second 100 litre tank, my question is has anyone used the F10 product to get rid of any water in the tank does it work ? as I don't know how much water if any is in the tank, should I empty the tank although not an easy job with 2 x 100 litre tanks under the floor
TIA

Johnson Etec?Drain the fuel,
Johnson Etec?
Drain the fuel, seperate the water manually, as long as its not ethanol it6 will be fine

yep johny and evinrude was
yep johny and evinrude was in cahoots for a while before they both died to the jap imports rob H
ledge keep on monitoring water filter/seperator dont be a scrooge u might have to replace the fuel filter , and check the filter on the inside of the cowling as well/replace
i would run something like seafoam to reduce pitting and possible damage to inside of pistons to be sure
maybe even add a fuel stabiliser
drain affected tank chuck it or with current fuel prices
add metho as stated, let it settle 24 hrs if u can wait , water should go to bottom , drain of the top 3/4 if i a clear container u would see the seperation
discard the rest or put it in the neighbours/mother in laws car ;p
I would just chuck it -$200 of lost fuel compared to possible damages to injectors /pistons

Johnson and Evinrude were
Johnson and Evinrude were under the omc banner but not etec.
Johnson was rebadging Suzuki 4 strokes for a while there.
I think that's what Rob is getting at. The is no crossover Etec / Johnson in the 140hp range.
Does anyone know where the love of god goes, when the waves turn the minutes to hours?

If its fuel injected drain
If its fuel injected drain the hp fuel pump housing and pump fresh fuel thru.
As the fuel pump housing will corrode on contact to water and corrosion will block the suction side pump filter.
This then reduces fuel flow thru to the injectors and can also burn the pump out.
