Was Ohhhhh! POOP!!!, now kama...
Freo went down fighting until the end. Was the season successful? No. Has there been improvement? Yes. Is the future bright? Yes. Was the recruitment of Ross Lyon by Fremantle a good thing? Very much so. Good luck to the remaining five teams for this year and bring on 2013!
wet toast wiggles also went down fighting.... against a team they smashed only recently, and after playing a soft opposition at home in week one of the finals. reality is the wiggles couoldn't win an away final this year. Freo has improved this year, but not enough, and we will be better next year. wiggles went backwards.... bring on 2013 and lets see what it brings. my wish is for two "SMASHING" western derbies that Freo will win both by a combined total of two points, Freo for the flag, and Fyfe for the Brownlow!

Freo are a few quality key
Freo are a few quality key position players short of a top 4 side. Theyve got their clearance and ball carriers sorted with ballas, mundy, barlow, fife, hill and crowley shuts down the best each week. I hope they dont resort to recruiting old, big dollar 'experienced' players to fill the holes. Need another mayne and young pav. Should be proud of last weeks effort, took its toll tho, aswell as travellin etc. They had the tallent to knock the crows off but not enough fuel in the tank. Fast starts on fresh legs is becoming common these days, need the puff to play defencive tho to maintain the gap for the rest of a match.
I am, as I've said, merely competent. But in an age of incompetence, that makes me extraordinary.

Pick up Goddard as a free
Pick up Goddard as a free agent (he is only 27 and has another 4-5 yrs in him), and recruit Mason Shaw (from SF?) in the draft as another tall forward. Get Morabito back in for some outside speed. The young ones made a couple of critical mistakes at critical times last night, but they will be better for the experience. McPharlin was always going to be a big out, but we got to be able to win with any 22 that run out. I certainly don't think there were any outside factors that cost us the game. The umpires did a fair job and didn't impact the result. Travel and short breaks will be fixed through a better ladder position going into the finals. I love the fact that Fyfe has only just turned 21 and already has 50 games under his belt. He is going to be an absolute superstar. And lets not forget the year that Clancee Pearce and Michael Walters have had either. Pearce has just been so hard all year and Walters is dangerous at ground level.

You may as well call em the Freo Saints then! LOL! Taken their coach, Dawson and now probably Goddard...bloody hell. Definitely after a quick fix. Your window is probably only another couple of seasons. You buy your ready made team. Not like West Coast, done it all by themselves. Good luck!

Buy a ready made team? I
Buy a ready made team? I think Dawson is our only in this year from another club, how old is he? Year before I think it was Griffin? How old is he? Where did Kennedy and Josh Hill come from? Thats right, Carlton and the Bulldogs. Really give me a break! Look at the list before making a stupid comment like that. Pavlich, Ballantyne, Mundy, Steven Hill, Fyfe, Ibbitson, De Boer, Walters, Barlow, Spurr, Clarke, Pearce, Sandilands, Crowley, Mzungi, Silvani, Duffield, Mayne. These are all one club players developed by Fremantle. Then add in the new boys drafted over the last couple of years. Wet Toast Wiggles, done it all by themselves, na, na, nan, na nar! Really that is pathetic and typical of a an Eagles supporter, always thinking you are better. This year the reality is the Eagles have underachieved.
All teams trade and fill gaps when their premiership window is open. Fremantle have managed their salary cap and their list well and are in a position to buy free agents if need be. Have West Coast got that luxury?

I bite hard and fight! ;)
Can add Michael Johnson to that list. Unquestionably we've had some dud trades in the past. Jack Anthony was just pitiful compensation in return for Chris Tarrant who we turned into a quality defender for Collingwood. Adam McPhee has his critics, but he has size, experience and is an All-Australian, and he didn't cost us anything. People say we stuffed up the draft when we lost our chance to get Hodge and Mitchell and instead we got MacPharlin. I'll take Luke any day. Absolute quallity player there (and we did get rid of Trent Croad in that deal as well i think, so win- win really!)

I thought he was going to the bombers. also he didnt want to move to Perth. I dont know why he would move to the bombers though it must be purely for money and alot more of it to leave Stkilda

Considering
there is a firm belief that Goddard has bought property in Perth and has even secured a membership at Royal Perth Golf Club it looks like he's heading to the Shockers.

Probably signed up
for 3yrs or more?
I guess he's thinking of slipping into the Shockers' tiny premiership window considering the Saints wont do anything for the next few years.

tired legs
consecutive 6 day breaks with travel playing finals footy was always going to take its toll and you could see it happening just before half time. Cant fault their commitment tho. Next year willl finish top 4 and not have those problems.
Silvagni did his best but McPaharlin would have held Walker. Pav's carring an injury.
Its going to be a good 2013

Trades/Free Agents
There is a little rumour going around that Freo are hunting for Goddard and Waite. If Waite could keep injury free, that would be a serious forward line.
It looked pretty slippery out there last night and they tried hard, but you could see that they didn't have the energy to fight off Adelaide. I think if it had of been not as damp, Freo's skill level would of been higher and they would have opened up a much bigger lead in the first half. saying that, every time we play in Adelaide Pav seems to be lethargic and easily beaten. If it was amateur footy I would suggest that he was out the night before catching up with friends and family.
Next year (Have heard that before).

Tired legs?
I'm pissed we lost, how many games has silvani played? Should be fresh as. He looked worried and down all game, should have grabbed the chance by the balls cos I know he's a decent player n Ross felt so too. Taylor was always going to be a problem without mcpharlin, as defense was the main part of the game Ross was workin on this year. Not to mention the turnovers in the back line by another player. Not a good time for the best part our our game to unravel.
Anyhow, great year for our boys.wish them better luck next year.
Now gotto go n try to smack some bream today to make me feel better. Any one been getting anything in the canning lately? I've been ducking out in my sure fire spots lately, not even blowies.

Murray
Did the Murray today and had to work hard to find them. Not in their usual haunts....must be a lot of fresh water around. Still cleaned up though :-) Found most of mine in the shallows.

Happy for the crows for the
Happy for the crows for the win would've been pissed if they went out in straight sets. with a good trade or 2 freo should be up there next year, bit dissappointed for Petrenko to do his shoulder in the dying seconds could do with him next week. Won't be suprised if the hawks hand our arse on a platter next week but the experience of 3 finals will help the crows next year. If we do manange to jag it next week anything is possible. Was thinking Rutten was past his due date but the last 3-4 games he has played some pearlers and did a good job on Pav.
Game tonight will be interesting hoping the Eag's knock out eddie and his boys.

Don't be too concerned
10 points in the circumstances is nothing to be ashamed of. All-in-all the Dockers have gained a heap of respect in the second half of the season and should look very positively at 2013. Some smart decisions in the off-season should see them come up strong. Great effort boys
. Now let's get behind the Eagles today!!!!!!

Goddard
Rumour is BG has signed up to one of Fremantles golf clubs- I agree we need to go after a few more and bolster the inside mid stocks and running defenders. Would like to see Morabito back in fold for next year and more games into Cam Sutcliffe and lachy Neale too.
Lyon was the best fit for our club hands down...

50/50 with that one
Mate agree to some degree but if you look closely Freo normally have extras down back during key marking set ups- he was alone most of the time- where was the chop outs we are used to?
He needs to find some form with his kicking but from last night so does Mcphee who was excellent the week before rolling through the backline.
Mid way through the second qtr we couldnt hold the ball in our forward line- Pav was looking injured? ballantyne was slower than normal and the forward line was lacking the lock down we are use to seeing this year...
Adelaide won and we had our chance!

lack of pace
definate lack of pace all around the ground from freo which was down on the previous 9 games. The boys tried hard top 4 finish is the only way as you really do need the week off with the intensity of these recent games

not sure why lyon left
not sure why lyon left silvani on taylor for so long when other coaches would have made the change much sooner
we all know lyon doesnt like silvani and only played him last time cuz the fans wanted him to (his words) perhaps he was making a point?
anyway
for the first real time im accually excited about next year, i do think we will have a little window open up for us and be a real contender in the next 4 years

Ross Lyon's message
Ross Lyon's message to supporters is, I coach, you support. He has integrity, he would never do something because the supporters wanted it. The supporters would probably have preferred to see grover in a farewell game, but that didn't happen. remember last week the back six were terrific without mcpharlin and silvani was one of them. I think silvani may want a trade. would be sad to see him go because I reckon he's ok. anthony should go, grover's gone, suban ??? he might want a trade as well.

Lyon
one things for sure with Lyon he wouldnt play silvagni purely because the fans wanted him to. He has sounded out all the players in the team this year and as it turned out Silvagni isnt in our best back 6 at the moment and got his chance through injury. Lyon has defended him strongly today in the media blaming the midfield defence pressure
