Uncle Stu's amazing catch
Uncle Stu, Sherbs and I decided to brave the elements yesterday morning and to try out one of our favourite metro landbased spots.
We arrived before dawn to find a blustery south wester, combined with pretty sizeable waves, had turned our spot into a washing machine.
Hoping the fish would still be there we went at it and soon found that conditions made for pretty difficult fishing in the reefy area we were fishing. Needless to say, we lost a hell of a lot of rigs between us.
A few hours in, Stu hooked something and soon had it back on the beach. To our surprise, it was a massive collection of Sherb's rigs. Now that is a good fishing friend for you.
Stu also caught this nice Tarwhine and a few other small fish.
I managed to test out my rebuilt Moonraker (courtesy of Mako Magic) and was pretty happy to find that it was almost as good as new.
Final count, reef (about 100 rigs), Stu (a couple of Tarwhine and a whiting), Sherbs (nil), Colin (nil).

Yeah, thanks a lot Matt
I didn't really give it hard a testing as the conditions were so crap, but it certainly loaded up nicely when I gave it a few casts.

Mad alright Russ & Sandy
I don't think anyone was game enough to say it was crap and they were going home.
But it was still great to get out for a fish with a few mates.

Lol I think there was some discussion about sharing
but I think Stu was kind enough to give Sherbs all his gear back.
What was amazing is that with all the water washing around, and all the lost gear on the reef, that Stu managed to pull all those rigs in at the same time (there were at least 7 separate rigs) - and they were all Sherbs.

I'm sitting here
listening to the rain, thinking nobody would be out in this, (I'm not going shopping to spend money ha ha) then see you two went fishing yesterday, crikey you two sure were keen, but can understand the need to fish in any elements, peace, listening to the waves and mate's chattering away like mate's do, good one, all I can say you two have rocks in your heads ha ha ha Bet you two both had a nice cup of tea or coffee when you both got home and maybe a hot shower.

Hi Roberta We were yuppy anglers yesterday.
We went straight from the beach to a local Cafe for a fancy coffee (thanks for the cuppa Steve). I am not sure what the local fashionadas thought of Sherbs in his shorts and white legs sipping coffee outside such a fancy cafe (Lol).

Stu looks mean in that gear..
No wonder the rigs gave themselves up.. I hit the coast a lot further up and didn't lose rigs. No fish of any real metion though, just a good chance to run the dog and catch up with a few die-hards up that way. Patience boys.. I am sure things will turn around for the better soon. Be nice to catch up again.

Lol I don't know about that, but he certainly has a vast
range of complex looking set-ups. I think he used the whole range that morning.
