Don't get me wrong, the rules are no power on or off clearly sighed at the ramp .This is the reason the ramp is in need off maintenance .I have a 7.4m Ali and winch her on, its not that hard. When you see some knob in his 6m boat sitting at 2000rpm for three minutes until his knob mate hooks up the winch cable, Lazy I think.and then there's the guys without a winch.. Who need to drive on. So if you want to power on and totally trash what we have left of a ramp then go launch at some other ramp. And that means Fw member also.
My only reasoning/defense for a boat driving on at this boat ramp is because it is such a shit ramp, too short for an extra boat to hang off and single laned, and with that some people just aint too hot at launch or retrieve,This is why the experienced boat operator might want to slip down the outside(there is enough room)and gently drive on,This speedens up the waiting game as on many occasions there some 30-40 boats all jostling for a bit of honesty turf in the water trying to patiently wait their turn at the ramp..I,ve been told that there wont be another jetty due to the Marina not having the parking capacity for another ramp and jetty...O.k then why dont they make the existing ramp another boat length so we can speeden up the process..I,ve been fishing there over 20 yrs and this is the first time any works been done to it with the fees paid by us all...
No going down the outside anymore as I don't think the new ramp will be wide enough. We will all have to wait our turn .As for drive on off YES the new ramp will be drive on and off.
With the shit upgrade. Made a shit ramp worse. Agree with Paul some are good at powering on but most are not so for the sake of that heritage listed finger jetty probably best not to.. Just remember to have some beers on ice for the wait to get your boat on the trailer when that breeze comes in. :)
I would also like to know where our parking fee goes. If it goes to the yacht club then I won't be paying anymore. Can't see what they do for the ramp!!
With the guy that collects it. Told him its a disgrace that we pay 6 bucks for it. No wash down, No fish cleaning facilitys etc. Because its not council operated you wont get fined for not paying. And that upgrade is a joke, all the money they have made out of that ramp and thats the best they can do...I have looked a those pre cast panels they have put in and they will be falling apart in a couple of years 5 years max so by the looks they were instructed to do a quick fix.So i wonder what plans the owners have for it
Is this an old post? - is the ramp open - or is it an April Fools joke!! Doesn't look open - http://www.trvsrg.com.au/CurrentState.html Sorry if I have missed something.
Just had a look at the ramp ,looking good.I did say it looked narrow but now the panals are down there is plenty of room for two boats at the same time . still not sure on finishing time but it looks the goods.
Now rumour two is a good one ,hope they have the cops sat there each day or the poor guy turning people away will be getting as little roughed up. As for open over easter not sure Im in the Abrolhos so won't do me any good.
I cannot understand some people, why they are so weak that they are unable to launch & retreive their boats,we have power winches, multi gearred winches.easy roll on/off trailers, I can only think they are lazey SOBs,who have little or no regard to other boat users.I have seen small 4/5mtr boats pushed asside at Hillarys by people who drive on the trailer, fair enough if the winch is US but fix it and have some consideration . I would suggest all activities that can damage the ramps including these motor bikes on water,(jet skies) they seem to be above every one else.

Powering on and off the ramp
Powering on and off the ramp is the only way to get them to actually spend anything on it.
Ramp controller ???? Are you the guy with the alsatian?
If I spent half as long fishing , as I do reading this bloody forum , I'd be twice the fisherman I am.
