transferring coords from old gps to new gps

I am upgrading my small cheap gamin eTrex gps to most likely a simrad combo.  Does anyone know if it's possible to import all my existing coordinates into these fang dangled gps units.  if so is there a standard file format?  Like .csv or .txt???

I am going have to get them out of the old unit manually so I thought I should put them straight into a spreadsheet as I do it.  That way I am hoping I can import them straight in.

Any advice?

As willlo said take a photo first just in case it all goes bad.

As long as you have cables to connect to your computer anything can be done. There is a program called GPS Babel. It will convert files to any format.

There are many others out there. I use babel to convert lowrances file into a file that I use with my editing program where I add/delete/modify points and routes.

I can swap points between my garmin and lowrance by changing the file type.
