Todays success
Had a fair bit of success today fishing many spots ranging from D9 to garden island and beyond, total score was 10 sized skippy, bucket loads of baby whiting, way too many butterfish and cod. was a pretty good morning, was up a 5 at the boat at 6 and in the water by 630, first drop earnt us a double header of skippy and the other 3 fishos hooked up almost at the same time, we were getting nailed by sambos while bringing the skippy up to the boat but didnt manage to hook any after using a wide range of baits through to rigs, saw schools of pinkies but unfortunately no sized ones were landed, if anybody has any tips to hooking up on sambos or pinkies please comment as i am dying to get a really decent fight :)
the photo shows the skippy we ended up keeping, biggest was 58cm but he went back in and so did the rest after these lot were pulled up in the first 10 minutes
Cheers guys!! ended up being a great day on the water

cheers guys!
cheers guys! we tried whole mulies, squid, fillets and everything, weighted and unweighted, 30 to 50lb fluorocarbon :/
Beau, we went behind garden island, but if your not comftable going that far, there is good fishing on the edge of the shipping channell which isnt too far out but choose your days right, nothing worse than ending up coming home late with no fish when the lots of chop :/ but yeh you dont have to travel for ages or deep to catch good fish, apparently the D9 wreck is good fishing but ive personally never had any luck, the shipping channel has gotten me king george, big skippy, some decent rays by accident and so far lots of snapper under the 40cm range, nothing size yet though :/ good fun on 4lb gear :) good luck!

Yep as Beau said, put a hook
Yep as Beau said, put a hook in a live skippy, dont be afraid to use a big skippy. I got a 10-12 kg sambo on a 35 cm skippy after watchin them monster the skippy when hookn into them, common sense, theyre hitn them, they eatem, just sux when u have fun with skippy on 4 lb and then ur fish ends up in the gob of a sambo
I am, as I've said, merely competent. But in an age of incompetence, that makes me extraordinary.

I had the same problem the
I had the same problem the other day off kayak, there was a 1m plus sambo cruising under me and wouldnt take anything. In the end the only thing he took was a live wrasse (only livey i could get) and he took that instantly. On 8 pound braid i didnt stand much chance but was fun to watch! Good skipjack you picked up there
