Thru hull in Signature
Submitted by crano on Sun, 2017-06-25 14:55
Got a 600RF Haines Signature and want to put in a wet box. The only place I can see that I might be able to do it is under where the batteries sit up on a platform. I don't know what is under there and whether it would be possible.
Has anybody here tried this or know of anywhere else I could fit one in a Signature ?

TM 260
Have got a TM260 out the back at the moment. I had a P66 first and I tried everything putting it in the usual area but it just would not work at speed. I ended up putting it about 300mm in from the side of the hull to get it to work. I then put the 260 in it's place and it is OK but when it gets too rough it starts to drop out a bit. I have not actually tried it back in the normal area. I was thinking of making a wet box and drop the 260 in it and see what happens or maybe go through hull.

If you've got one it's worth
If you've got one it's worth a go. i was hesitant with thru hull at first.. but eventually put in a 1kw B175m which required a 110mm cut out.. hold bottom in any speed up to 40 knots (wot).. really clear. S2009

Go Thru Hull
I had a wet box with a HDS sounder and had nothing but trouble holding bottom in my 632F. Ending up swapping to a thru hull SS164 and haven't looked back, and I know at least one other boat that went through the same exercise. The variable dead rise hull on the signatures creates some issues with turbulance so the thru hulls are the way to go.

B164
Hi Crano
I went with a B164 thru hull in my 600C. Fitted it through the flat section on the planing plank. Very easy. You are welcome to come around and have a look if you like.
I did then the best that I knew how. When I knew better, I did better.
