yep that seems like a fair
yep that seems like a fair fine great and this needs to be more widely publicised .....although not sure how they can prohibit him from "being on a boat" can't be right.
would be like getting done for drunk driving and being prohibited from "being in a car."
and whether he ever actually pays the fine or not is a different matter as well.

It can be right - I suspect that the condition about
him being on a boat is fair game, since a boat was integral to him committing some of those offences - good stuff I say.
edit: IMO you cant be drink driving in any seat of a vehicle , whereas you can be illegally fishing in a boat, regardless of whether your driving it or not , hence the condition - thats how i see it.

Yeah I don't have a problem
Yeah I don't have a problem with it ....just an observation and thought it a bit strange.
BTW you cant be illegally fishing if you are just taking a sunset pleasure cruise up the river with family or friends with no fishing gear on board.

haha... the more I think
haha... the more I think about it the better punishment it sounds.
makes it easier to police him in future as well.
on a boat ...your gone !
there's no "but I wasn't fishing" (after I dumped the gear overboard) lol

Exactly
as I said , just my opinion - but he could be illegally fishing anywhere...and yes - policing him was the other issue. Anyway that may teach him / may not.

typical lazy reporting Id
typical lazy reporting Id say.
The report says later "prohibit this offender from taking part in any fishing activity for six months" not "being on a boat".
Ludicrous to so vaguely be "banned from being on a boat".
What is a boat-dinghy, jetski, surfboard, boogy board?
Give a man a mask, and he'll show you his true face...
The older you get the more you realize that no one has a f++king clue what they're doing.
Everyone's just winging it.

Fines.
Well you cant just wrack up big fines and not pay them, the options would be something like
paying it off in instalments ($100 a week or something) or getting the balliffs in to seize property or
assets ( a nice boat maybe!) .
The only way around it would be if you cant pay , you might go to jail , or do communtity work as each day
pays off a fine at a certain rate, but I dont believe this avail on all fines.
As far as a punishment , this sounds fair to me , mainly for his deeds in selling the catch , totally
against everything rec fishers are suppose to stand for, ie , to catch a feed for oneself and family whilst enjoying
the outdoors and the experience.

I love reading stories with a good ending
Yep good story with a good ending, you do the crime (and give rec fishers a bad name) then you deserve to get the fine, and if you can't pay the fine then you should be made to do community based work.
Well done DoF, lets hope the message get through to all who think they will make a few dollars on the side.
